  1. If clicking on the INDEX icon gave you this message:-
  2.  
  3.    "Neither MULTIVIEW nor AMIGAGUIDE have been found in your
  4.     system's path."
  5.  
  6. Then this could mean one of the following:-
  7.  
  8. - You do not have either MULTIVIEW or AMIGAGUIDE.
  9.  
  10.   If this is the case, you CANNOT use AmigaDOS for Beginners!!
  11.  
  12. - You DO have MULTIVIEW or AMIGAGUIDE but they are stored
  13.   in a directory that has not been included in the path.
  14.  
  15.   In this case, you should take the action detailed below.
  16.  
  17. If you have Workbench 1.3 or earlier, then you will not
  18. have had MULTIVIEW or AMIGAGUIDE supplied with your system.
  19.  
  20. With WB2.0 and later, it is normal for AMIGAGUIDE or MULTIVIEW
  21. to be stored in the UTILITIES directory of the disk from
  22. which you boot. This is called "Sys:Utilities".
  23.  
  24. (Note - "Sys:" is the name that is automatically given to the
  25. disk from which you boot up.)
  26.  
  27. It is STRONGLY recommended that you copy it to the Sys:Utilities
  28. drawer if it is not already there.
  29.  
  30. You should then check your "Startup-Sequence" file for a line
  31. that looks something like this:-
  32.  
  33.   PATH Ram: C: Sys:Utilities ...... (more dir names) ADD
  34.  
  35. If it does NOT have the directory:-
  36.  
  37.   Sys:Utilities
  38.  
  39. in this line then you should add it. Make sure that you
  40. leave a space between each of the directory names and don't
  41. delete any names already there!
  42.  
  43. If, for some obscure reason, you want to leave
  44. MULTIVIEW or AMIGAGUIDE in another directory, then add that
  45. directory's name to the PATH command. For example, if
  46. it is in the directory:-
  47.  
  48.   Sys:Xyz
  49.  
  50. then you should amend the PATH command line to read:-
  51.  
  52.   PATH Ram: C: Sys:Utilities Sys:Xyz .... (more dir names) ADD
  53.  
  54. (Make sure you don't chop out any of the directory names!!
  55.  
  56. NOW RETRY DOUBLE CLICKING ON THE INDEX ICON
