IBM PerfectPhoto Version 1.0 Read Me
Updated: January 4th, 1999

This Read Me file contains the latest information for the IBM
PerfectPhoto Version 1.0.
0. Installation
Perform the following steps to install.
1. Insert PerfectPhoto CD in CDROM Drive
2. If Autorun feature is enabled, then the installation process
starts automatically. Otherwise do:
1. Select "Start" on your desktop
2. Select "Run"
3. Type x:\setup.exe in the "Open field" and click OK to
start the install process (x is your CD-ROM drive letter).
1. Components to Install
You can select the following program components from the Select
Components dialog during installation:
Program Files
Samples
Retouch Navigation
Online Document
Templates
File Transfer Program
Select Retouch Navigation and install it if you want to execute Retouch
Navigation from Image Editor. If File Transfer Program is not shown in
the list of components, use the scrollbar and display the hidden
portion of the list.
2. Album Explorer Sample Album
The Album Explorer sample album is stored in the following location:
C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto\data\album
("C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto" is the default location. If you
have installed "IBM PerfectPhoto" in a different location, use that
location instead of the default.) To open the sample album, from
Album Explorer move the cursor on [File] and [Open]; then click on
[Album]. Specify the Album location as
"C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto\data\album". Select PerfectPhoto
Sample Album from the list of albums and click Open.
3. Album Explorer "Reload All Image" Function
All the image thumbnails in an album are recreated if
[View] -> [Reload all image] is selected from the menu or if the F5
function key is pressed. This function is useful if the thumbnails
are not displayed properly. Use this function to redisplay the
thumbnails.
4. Album Explorer "Reload Updated Images" Function
Old image thumbnails are recreated if [View] -> [Reload updated
images] is selected from the menu or if the [F5] key is pressed with the
<Ctrl> key held down. This function is useful if an image registered
in an album is updated by another application. Use this function to
update the image thumbnail.
5. Digital Gallery Samples
The digital gallery samples, flower.dpg and mountain.dpg, are stored in
the following location:
C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto\sample\gallery
("C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto" is the default location. If you
have installed "IBM PerfectPhoto" in a different location, use that
location instead of the default.) Double-click on these files to
start Gallery Editor. Select [File] and [Start Digital Gallery] from the
menu and enjoy the digital gallery. You can also make a screen saver
from these files. Refer to the User's Guide for more details on how to
create a screen saver.
6. Digital Gallery Sound Samples
The digital gallery background music samples are stored in the
following location:
C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto\sample\bgm
("C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto" is the default location. If you
have installed "IBM PerfectPhoto" in a different location, use that
location instead of the default.)
The digital gallery WAV file samples are stored in the following
location:
C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto\sample\soundclip
("C:\Program Files\IBM PerfectPhoto" is the default location. If you
have installed "IBM PerfectPhoto" in a different location, use that
location instead of the default.)
7. How to view the Tutorial
The tutorial needs the Macromedia Flash Plugin installed in the
browser to display properly. If your browser does not have the
Flash plugin installed, please download and install the plugin.
(Some browsers may download and install automatically.)
