  80.                Welcome to SBD #7!  It's really great to see that we're still
  81.           growing strong after all these months!  And even though we're the
  82.           same old magazine, with the same old editor, and the same old
  83.           purpose, you'll notice a lot of changes in this month's SBD:
  84.  
  85.                     1) The problem with the mysterious '81st Column' has been
  86.                        fixed.
  87.  
  88.                     2) Better spell and grammar checking.
  89.  
  90.                     3) The articles should fill the pages much better now.
  91.  
  92.                     4) The forms have been fixed YET AGAIN.
  93.  
  94.                     5) Your chance to vote on the best SB software!

  96.                     6) And finally, a new assistant editor!

  99.                These changes are intended to make the SBD a better publication
  100.           on the whole.  But more is needed to improve the SBD.  Once again,
  101.           we're down on articles for the SBD.  I am in no way a Sound Blaster
  102.           expert, but instead someone who enjoys the card enough to attempt to
  103.           learn whatever he can about it.  I write all the articles I can, but
  104.           there is only so much I can do.  I need you, the reader to help
  105.           contribute to this fine magazine.  And it isn't monetary support I
  106.           request.  If you buy a game with Sound Blaster support, or download
  107.           some new utility that you happen to like, then write a short article
  108.           reviewing it.  If you have something to say about the Sound Blaster
  109.           which you feel would be helpful and informative to others, write it
  110.           down and send it to me.  Anything that is sent will be considered for
  111.           publication, and most probably will.  So far only one article has
  112.           been turned down, as it was a review that had already been published!

  257.                The following information is taken from data provided by
  258.           Derek Ziglar, an SBD reader from Atlanta, Georgia.  Many thanks,

  261.                The Sound Blaster music systems card is undoubtably the most
  262.           supported sound systems card in the history of the PC and
  263.           compatibles.  Creative Labs design team took great effort in
  264.           getting out a superior product, and they did.
  265.  
  266.                And now, Creative Labs has done it yet again.  The all new
  267.           SOUND BLASTER PRO, to be distributed starting this summer, is a
  268.           major improvement on the old card, at least according to the
  269.           statistics.  In a future edition of THE SOUND BLASTER DIGEST, we
  270.           will attempt to actually review the card, and let you know what
  271.           we think about it.  But for now, to wet your appetites, we shall
  272.           provide what we can on wheat we have.

  317.           Hopefully in the coming months I will be able to provide an
  318.           actual review on the hardware itself.  When this becomes
  319.           possible, the SBD will report on both the SOUND BLASTER, and the
  320.           new SB PRO to continue to cater to ALL Sound Blaster users.

  325.                Starting this month, and continuing until the end of this
  326.           year, the SBD will be holding our first annual READER'S SURVEY.
  327.           This is your chance to do two things:  first, to let us know what
  328.           you think of the SBD, and secondly, to make your vote on the best
  329.           Sound Blaster software of the year.
  330.  
  331.                Simply follow the instructions on the form, insert it in the
  332.           pre-addressed envelope, place sufficient postage on the envelope,
  333.           and drop in your local mailbox!
  334.  
  335.                Votes for the best software are in two categories:
  336.           COMMERCIAL and SHAREWARE/PUBLIC DOMAIN.  Please write ONE name in
  337.           each blank.  The software must have some sort of SOUND BLASTER
  338.           support to be considered valid, and must have been released
  339.           before January 1st 1992.

  341.                So get your survey in now!  Only one survey per person,
  342.            please!  The results will be printed sometime early in 1992.

  349.                How would you like to become a reporter for the SOUND
  350.           BLASTER DIGEST?  It's easy!  Simply write an article on whatever
  351.           you wish:  it can be on programming the Sound Blaster, reviews on
  352.           new hardware and software, instructions for using special
  353.           functions, or anything else you'd like!  Then mail it to the
  354.           editor (the address is at the end of this file), along with your
  355.           name and your address.  We will publish it if possible!

  357.                If you mail your article on a diskette, you will get your
  358.           diskette back with the edition of the SBD in which your article
  359.           appears, free!
  360.  
  361.                Either way, you get your name published as the author of the
  362.           article, and people around the world will read it!  We reserve
  363.           the right to edit any part of any article sent, if we chose to
  364.           publish it.  So get writing today!
