  8. This is the BETA release of my VOC file player, The only testing that
  9. I have performed is on my own machine with a standard Sound Blaster
  10. card 1.5 version.

  15. SETUP;
  16.  
  17. In order for this program to work, you must set an enviroment varible
  18. named PLAYVOC to the directory where the driver program that came
  19. with the Sound Blaster; CT-VOICE.DRV    an example is........

  25.   └───>>>  C:\SB\DRV The directory where the file CT-VOICE is located

  27. Also, you must already have installed the driver according to your
  28. particular setup by using INST-DRV program that came with the card.
  29. (at least as far as I can tell)

  31. To run the program requires you to provide a command line file name
  32. which would be the VOC file to play, ie.......

  35.                      PLAYVOC frogs.voc

  38. And if all works correctly, you should hear the output, One thing to
  39. note; the VOC file must be smaller than 65000 bytes, anything larger
  40. will lock the program an computer up due to that this program will
  41. load the entire VOC file into memory before playing it.

  43. As far as memory requirments go so far I believe that it requires
  44. at least 512 K but that should not be a problem on most machines.

  55. but due to the variety of computer and software that is program may be run
  56. on you hereby use this program at your own risk.

  60. and ideas esp. concerning how to get away from using the CT-VOICE.DRV
  61. driver supplied by Creative Labs so that this program may work on other
  62. SB compatable sound cards !!!!!!!!!!!
