≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡ PIANOMAN GOES BACH! ≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡≡
This disk contains twelve musical selections by Johann Sebastian Bach,
chosen from the two-part and three-part inventions, the Well Tempered Clavier,
and three suite movements, transcribed and adapted for IBM-compatible PC using
Pianoman software.
Each file self-adjusts tempo no matter the speed of your microprocessor.
You need no special hardware or software -- the files are complete as they
are. You can use them with monochrome or color monitors of any kind. [If you
have a color monitor, you can enhance the program by adjusting screen
attributes prior to running the PLAYBACH batchfile.]
The sound your system attains will vary according to the capabilities
of its speaker. The poorest quality sound tends to come from IBM-brand PCs,
PC-XTs or PC-ATs, with Zenith, Compaq and AT&T 6300 very close seconds. (If
you find you like PC music, you could downgrade to one of the clones!) On
average, I have found that Korean labels produce better sound than Taiwanese,
but certain domestic varieties are the best of all. (Identifying them is
trial and error).
Sound quality is also affected by variables such as whether your CPU is
lying flat or upended on its narrow side, whether it is wedged between a wall
and the side of a desk, and so on. So don't be discouraged by the Compaq 386
in your office until you try your kid's Tandy 1000.
The files in the Pianoman Goes Bach collection were all produced using
Pianoman software, which is available on the shareware market and over
thousands of bulletin boards, and the name "Pianoman" as used in the title of
this disk is used with the prior consent of Pianoman's owner and author,
Neil J. Rubenking.
If you are interested, my disks "Pianoman Goes Baroque" and "Pianoman
Does Beethoven" contain information on using Pianoman to make your own music
files or to reprocess these files to your liking (such as pitch, tempo, or
even screen design).
These and other Pianoman files are ideal for AUTOEXEC and other batch
file planting if you are in the mood for practical jokes or want to spice up
otherwise tiresome software. They can be renamed per your fancy (although in
this case you will lose use of the PLAYBACH batchfile), and copied, moved,
deleted, hidden or played back individually. All you need know to play them
is their name at the DOS prompt.
These files are being distributed as shareware, not freeware. They are
copyrighted material subject to all the usual rights and limitations in the
United States Code articles on intellectual property. They may not be
repackaged or resold without my prior written consent, although they are
fully available for modification and personal distribution as mentioned above
in accordance with the doctrine of fair use. The copyright expires 50 years
after my death, which I don't expect will be soon, which means this implied
agreement stands at least until the year 2038 and probably longer.
