R e m o t e C o n t r o l : E S Q V e r s i o n 1 . 0 1 b
Version 1.01b fixes many of the problems found in 1.00a and adds a
couple new features as well. If you notice any other problems, please
call (800) 289-2674 between 10am-6pm (CST).
PROBLEMS FIXED:
* Auditioning a patch in the graphic editor on CGA systems would
mess up the titles of envelopes 2 and 4.
* RCESQ and RCCONFIG now select the Roland MPU-401 (or compatible)
MIDI interface as the default selection.
* Sometimes when changing the color of the screen with the
[Options][Color] menu function, the screen would not properly
change the color of the screen.
* [Options][Directories] would not properly change the directory
settings.
* If you try to execute a macro or load a bank that does not exist,
RC no longer crashes but simply produces an error message.
* The graphic editor was not working on Hercules Monochrome, 3270
PC, or AT&T 400 systems.
* Patch names with decimal numbers are now displayed properly.
* When using the F6 macro to receive a bank, the menu would mess
up. Please use replace your old F6.RCM with the new one.
* [Bank][Load] was not accepting valid path names.
* RC now correctly backs up the bank in the synthesizer if it is
selected in the RCCONFIG.
* RC would not properly record "nested" macros.
* The patch editor/graphic screen was not listing the proper
parameters.
* Patch audition would not properly work on the ESQ-M.
* Incoming MIDI buffer increased from 12K to 24K for those large
sequences.
FEATURES ADDED:
* Internal DesqView(tm) support has been added.
* IRQ9 is now selectable with RCCONFIG.
* MIDI input and output is slightly faster.
* [Patch][Receive] added (see next page).
* [Patch][Transmit] added (see next page).
* Macro debug mode added (see next page).
* ESQ-M synthesizer selection in RC:ESQ and RCCONFIG.
* [Patch][Listen] added for auditioning patches with a keyboard or
external MIDI device.
* [Option][Synthesizer] now highlights the currently selected
synthesizer.
* Patch/graphic editors now allow [Patch][Listen] and [Patch]
[Transmit] functions to be used without leaving the editor.
* The graphic editor now uses a hi-res screen mode on EGA/VGA
systems which produces an easier to read screen.
UPDATE DOCUMENTATION:
If you are upgrading from a previous version (v1.00a or v1.01a),
please run RCCONFIG and make sure your synthesizer selection is
correct. Some changes were made that require that the synthesizer
selected be correct if the program is to work properly.
If you tried the sample HACKER and TRANSONQ banks, try them again.
We tweaked and fixed a couple of the sounds and threw in some we
made ourselves. You should find a couple sounds that you like.
SAMPLE MACROS EXPLAINED:
F1.RCM through F10.RCM - The standard macros available from the
function keys.
ALL.RCM - Creates all 26 banks. If you do not have enough
memory or a bank has been created, this macro will
end with an error.
RANDPAT.RCM - Randomizes ALL of the parameters of the current
patch. Because this macro alters the current patch,
make sure you want to overwrite the current patch.
NOTESOFF.RCM - Sends a MIDI AllNotesOff to all 16 MIDI channels
then returns to MIDI channel 1.
DOCUMENTATION CHANGES:
Disk Contents, page 2
Currently: "The disk contains the main program, help file,
configuration program, macro compiler, sample
macros, banks, and sequences."
Should be: "The disk contains the main program, help file,
configuration program, sample macros, banks, and
sequences."
Synthesizer preference, page 5
When receiving sequences and auditioning patches, RC needs to
know the type of synthesizer with which it is communicating.
For example, if you have an ESQ-M and you choose the ESQ-1
selection, RC:ESQ may not work properly. Make sure this is set
properly.
/D, page 6
This enables the macro debug mode. In macro debug mode, RC
waits a second between each macro simulated keypress. This
allows you to watch what your macro is doing and find any
problems if present.
[Options][Synthesizer], page 15
This function allows you to change between the ESQ-1, ESQ-M,
and SQ-80. See "Synthesizer preference" on page 5 for more
information.
[Patch][Receive], page 16
This function receives the currently selected patch in the
synthesizer and stores it where you tell it. If a patch
already exists where the patch is to be received, it will be
overwritten.
[Patch][Transmit], page 16
This function transmits the selected patch to the edit buffer
of the synthesizer. From the edit buffer, you may write the
patch to any location in the synthesizer (Refer to page ESQ-1:
74, ESQ-M: 84, SQ-80: 76). Before using any other function of
this program, either exit the write page or save the
transmitted patch to a new location. Otherwise, the program
may not work properly.
[Patch][Listen], page 16
This function sends the selected patch to the edit buffer of
the synthesizer. The program will then wait for a key to be
pressed and then remove the patch from the edit buffer. This
function is helpful for those using an ESQ-M who wish to listen
to a patch with an external MIDI device (such as another
keyboard).
RCESQ Environment String
You can specify where the configuration file (RCESQ.CNF) is
located by setting the RCESQ enviornment string to that path.
Place the line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT (refer to your DOS manual)
so RC can always find the configuration file.
Examples:
SET RCESQ=\RCESQ
SET RCESQ=C:
SET RCESQ=\MIDI\ESQ
