Welcome to MidiFile Reader Demo, a demonstration of Spartan Software
Systems newest addition to its Music Series products, MidiFile Reader.
MidiFile Reader is an IBM PC, XT, AT and PS/2 compatible software
utility that allows you to convert standard MIDI Files to a readable
text format. This conversion includes every MIDI event and value in
the MIDI File. After the text file has been viewed or edited, it can
be converted back into a standard MIDI File.
MidiFile Reader allows you to integrate your favorite text editor so
that you don't have to exit the program to edit the text data. An
extensive "profile" feature is also included which allows you to
customize many aspects of the program.
MidiFile Reader Demo is intended to provide you with an excellent idea
of the full capabilities of the actual MidiFile Reader product before
you buy. This demonstration program provides all the function found in
MidiFile Reader with the following exceptions. MidiFile Reader Demo
can only convert the MIDI File provided on the program diskette
(MRDEMO.MFF). Similarly MidiFile Reader Demo can only convert the text
file provided on the program diskette (MRDEMO.TXT). Other than these
exceptions, MidiFile Reader Demo functions exactly like the actual
product.
In order to realize the full integration of Spartan Software products,
the installation program, INSTALL.BAT, should be used to install
MidiFile Reader Demo. The installation program will create a "common
area" on the disk (or diskette) of choice where MidiFile Reader Demo
will be installed. Then as you purchase other Spartan Software
products, they can be added to this common area via their installation
programs to assure you of complete integration between products.
The installation program will create a master directory called \SPARTAN
which contains a unique subdirectory for each Spartan Software product
that you purchase. These subdirectories house the actual program files
needed to run that particular application.
The following procedure will install MidiFile Reader Demo on your fixed
disk. If you wish to install MidiFile Reader Demo to a disk other than
your C drive, substitute its drive letter everywhere you find the
letter "C" in the following steps. If you wish to install MidiFile
Reader Demo from a drive other that your A drive, substitute its drive
