************** READ THIS ***************
This is a Bulletin Board version of GFMUSIC. There is no password
associated with this version. If you decide you like
GFMUSIC, contact MIDWEST MIDI (see below for address and phone).
The price is $79.00 and you will receive the latest version
and the latest manual.
GFMUSIC is not a starter kit and does not function as a simple "multi-
track tape recorder" (although you can use it that way). It is a full
featured and rather sophisticated sequencer that attacks the problem of
sequencing with an approach similar to Dr. T's, although it is not a
clone. However, like DR. T's KCS, you will not be able to simply load
the program and expect to use it right away. Believe us when we say
that it will only frustrate you (and we'll lose a valued customer).
It will take you a little time to become effective with this, or any
sequencer of equal capability. If you are familiar with Dr. T's KCS,
you are most of the way there already because both products "look at"
sequencing similarly. With this in mind, experience has shown that
the best way to learn how to use GFMUSIC is to :
READ THE MANUAL FIRST !
The manual is tutorial in style and is primarily a teaching aid. It
will step you thru all of the features of GFMUSIC as well as it's
operational principles. It also serves as a reference via the index
and table of contents. The manual is over 100 pages in length and it
will take you some time to do the above. Plan on spending at least 3
hours for the first step and about 10 to 20 hours (less for those
familiar with Dr. T's) for the second step. Play with it and give
yourself at least a week for the concepts and mechanics to "age". I
promise you, it will be time well spent. But don't look on this as a
chore. It's an adventure. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at
GFMUSIC's capabilities and what it will do for you in the long-haul.
You should have received 2 disks. One disk has the manual on it
and the other has the programs and files. The first thing you should
do is make a backup of each diskette. They are not copy protected.
The manual is ready to print. Simply put the manual disk into your "B"
drive and type in "PRINT /Q:15 B:*.MNL" You may need to re-boot
your PC first because the /Q parameter is only valid with the first
PRINT command. The manual is over 100 pages long so it will take some
time to print. The manual is indexed for your convenience. It is also
broken up into over 10 parts so that if your printer jams, or you run
out of paper, you don't have to print the whole thing again.
If you have a single floppy and a hard disk, it's probably
"PRINT /Q:15 A:*.MNL".
The manual is provided on disk for a number of reasons. First, it
greatly reduces our up-front and printing costs which allows us to
bring the product to you for significantly less. However, the
information you need is there, even if the fancy covers, bindings, and
graphics are not. In addition, it helps us to make corrections and
additions based upon customer needs without the huge expense or
time delays associated with printed media. We hope you like the idea
and that it doesn't turn you off.
Before you print the manual, you may want to make sure there is a fresh
ribbon in your printer. This will make the manual easier to read.
Additional installation instructions are in the manual. Please,
make backups of the disks and then READ THE MANUAL.
When you ordered GFMUSIC, you ordered a 'demo' version. Actually,
the disks you have are both the demo version and full blown version
as well. The only difference is that to remove the 'demo' restrictions
you must supply the correct password when you start GFMUSIC.
Without the correct password, the ONLY differences are :
- Songs may ONLY be saved under the name TRYB4BUY and they
are saved ONLY on the current disk/directory.
- ONLY the first 3 sequences of a song will be saved to disk.
You can still create songs with up to 255 sequences, but when
you go to save them, GFMUSIC will only save the first 3
sequences to the disk file TRYB4BUY.
After trying GFMUSIC for as long as you want, if you decide you
truly like it, just send $79.00 less what you paid for the 'demo'
disk (check or money order) to :
MIDWEST MIDI
3408 MEADOWBROOK DRIVE
MIDWEST CITY, OK 73110
REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME, MAILING ADDRESS, AND THE SERIAL
NUMBER OF THE PROGRAM DISK (it's located on the label of the
program disk). Just write it on the check or include this information
on a slip of paper. DON'T FORGET THIS INFORMATION.
For credit card orders (VISA or MASTERCARD), call
MIDWEST MIDI at (405) 736-6676.
Upon receipt, we will immediately mail you a letter with the password
that removes the demo restrictions for your copy of GFMUSIC. If you
add $2.00 and include a phone number and days/times when you can be
reached, we will call you and tell you your password (or leave a
message with whoever/whatever answers). Continental USA only. If
nobody answers within one week, we'll send your $2.00 back. In either
case, we'll mail the password as soon as we receive your payment.
Finally, There is a Customer Response Form at the end of the manual.
If you fill it out and mail it in with your payment, we will knock
$1.00 off the above price. The purpose of the form is to help us
provide better products and service which we firmly believe will lead
to outstanding sales. Your name or address will not be sold or
otherwise distributed. If you don't buy GFMUSIC, we still value your
opinions so feel free to send them in.
For technical assistance, call GFMUSIC at (813) 961-0888.
For your convenience, hours are 7 PM to Midnight Eastern time.
