  12. NCC1701 is a faithful adaptation of the
  13. mainframe classic StarTrek updated for
  14. Windows 3.1 with graphic animation, an
  15. extensive help file for the newcomer, and
  16. remarkable ease of use lending itself to
  17. play with either mouse or keyboard. This
  18. beauty will make you feel like you're in
  19. command on the NCC-1701's Bridge.

  21. To install NCC-1701 in Windows Version 3.1,
  22. put a disk with the unzipped files in drive
  23. A (or B), pull down File / Run ... in Program
  24. Manager, and type a:setup (or b:setup) into
  25. Command Line.
  26.  
  27. The setup program adds several DLL files to
  28. your WINDOWS Directory (only if they are not
  29. already there or are there in earlier
  30. versions), including the Visual Basic Run
  31. Library VBRUN100.DLL which allows you to 
  32. run all software programmed in Visual Basic
  33. (including NCC-1701).

  35. The setup program does NOT modify any INI
  36. files, or any other Windows files.

  38. WINDOWS 3.0 Users .....
  39.  
  40. This version 1.00 of NCC-1701 requires
  41.  
  42.     Windows Version 3.1
  43.  
  44. because it uses the TrueType Dingbats
  45. font shipped with version 3.1. If you
  46. install and use it with version 3.0 of
  47. Windows, the Short Run Scan will show 
  48. different symbols for the ship, starbases,
  49. klingons and stars. Other than this
  50. symbology, NCC-1701 should be compatible
  51. with version 3.0 of Windows. The setup
  52. program checks for version 3.1 and will
  53. not install for version 3.0, but you
  54. can install for version 3.0 by placing
  55. all NCC1701.xxx files in a directory
  56. and pulling down File / Properties...
  57. in Program Manager to install it
  58. manually. In order to run, NCC-1701, 
  59. like all Visual Basic programs, requires
  60. that you have the VBRUN100.DLL file
  61. in your WINDOWS directory. This file
  62. is on our disk as VBRUN100.DL_, and you
  63. should copy it to your WINDOWS directory
  64. and rename it to VBRUN100.DLL if you do
  65. not already have the file there.
