  7. Crypto-Mania is a game of cryptograms on disk.  Cryptograms are sentences
  8. or phrases written in code (one letter substituted for another.) Your job
  9. is to decipher the code and reveal the phrase.
  10.  
  11. The word cryptogram comes from the Latin word {crypta} which means hidden
  12. and the Greek word {graphein} which means to write.
  13.  
  14. To start, type: CRYPTO, then selected a volume. Crypto-Mania will put
  15. your first puzzle on the screen and your ready for hours of fun.
  16.  
  17. Note that only Volume_1 is distributed with the software. The others can be
  18. purchased upon registration of Crypto-Mania.  Each volume has 250 puzzles.
  19. Volume_1 is free with software registration.
  20.  
  21. Once a puzzle is on the board, simply move the pointer under the letter you
  22. wish to change.  For instance, if you think the letter 'T' is really an 'A'
  23. then move the pointer under any letter 'T' and strike an 'A'. The program
  24. will find all the T's and place the letter A above them. If you decide that
  25. an 'A' is not the letter you want after all, simply place the pointer back
  26. under any letter 'T' and press your next choice. all the A's will be erased
  27. and replaced with your next choice. Or you can press the space bar to erase
  28. the letter completely.

  30. When you have guessed all the letters correctly, you have solved the puzzle
  31. and Crypto-Mania will play a little cheer to Congratulate you.  If you give
  32. up and decide to have the computer give you the answer, just press F5 and
  33. the computer will comply.  (But you will get a raspberry first.)

  35. A special note for my friends with certain vision disorders. If you have
  36. trouble with the first set of codes that the computer gives you, simply key
  37. Alt-R and your puzzle will be re-enciphered for you with a new letter set.

  39. Aids that can be toggled on and off during the game are a used letter
  40. board, and a frequency chart. The frequency chart shows the letter usage
  41. for the puzzle (not in the answer, but in the code).

  43. F1-Help is available during the game.

  45. System Requirements:
  46.        IBM-PC or Compatable
  47.        MS-DOS 3.20 or higher
  48.        640k RAM
  49.        CGA color monitor or better
  50.        Mouse support
  51.        Harddrive is best, but not necessary
  52.         unless you have 6 volumes or more.
