  62. 1. The game supplied is an unregistered version.  This version is
  63.    provided as a demonstration of the game capabilities and provides 
  64.    a fully functioning BACCARAT simulation.  Some game enhancements 
  65.    are reserved for those users who find this game to be a worthwhile 
  66.    investment. Shareware is a try before you buy marketing method. If 
  67.    you make regular use of this software, you are expected to "purchase"
  68.    it by paying the registration fee. As an incentive to register this 
  69.    program, I will send you the newest version of this software complete
  70.    with all the game enhancements not available in the unregistered 
  71.    copy.  These features are listed below.

  73.              REGISTRATION BENEFITS
  74.  
  75. 1. Your registered version will no longer have registration reminders
  76.    on screen.
  77.  
  78. 2. Your registered version will save all game information for all players
  79.    and will recall this information for each new game allowing the player
  80.    to continue a game started in a previous session.
  81.  
  82. 3. Your registered version will save the last game speed and chip value 
  83.    you used.  New games will start with your game speed and chip value 
  84.    loaded.

  86. 4. Your registered version will allow up to 6 "Human" players to play at  
  87.    one time.  Any seats not occupied by a human will be filled in by computer
  88.    generated players.  The unregistered version allows only one "Human" player
  89.    to play at a time.

  91. 5. Sound Blaster support is provided.  If you have a Sound Blaster or 100%
  92.    compatible system, you can order the optional voice pack for this game.
  93.    These files will allow you to hear digital recordings of the words seen
  94.    in the talk balloons.  This provides for a more realistic and entertain-
  95.    ing game.  NOTE: When all voice files are decompressed to your hard disk,
  96.    they will occupy nearly 1 mega byte of space.

  98. 6. Registered users can order additional "ULTIMATE" games at a 20% discount.
  99.    The registered version of the games "Ultimate Blackjack" and "Ultimate 
  100.    Gin" can be purchased for $8.00 each (regular price is $10.00).  If

  167.              PRINTING A REGISTRATION FORM

  169. A registration / order form can be printed out by selecting Baccarat Info 
  170. when playing the game, then push "P" or push "P" while reading this game 
  171. manual.  The form is ASCII text and should print on most printers.  If you 
  172. can't print out of copy of the registration / order form, just send us the 
  173. information above.  The file name for the order form is "ORDERFRM.TXT", 
  174. you can load this file into your word processor for print out if desired.  
  175. Please include the type of disk desired.  Better yet, give us a call at 
  176. 619-247-2804 and charge it.

  182.             INSTALLATION / SET UP
  183.    
  184. The game should be installed to your hard disk with the install program
  185. provided.  All required game files are compressed to the file 
  186. "ULTBAC.EXE".  A listing of all required files can be found in the 
  187. text file "PACKLIST.TXT".  The compression and extraction routines used
  188. for diskette data is LHA and is copyrighted by Haruyasu Yoshizaki. LHA is
  189. used as per the terms of Mr. Yoshizaki's documentation.
  190.  
  191.               GAME START UP
  192.  
  193. The game is started by typing "BACCARAT" after being properly installed.
  194.  
  195.                COMMAND LINE OPTIONS
  196.  
  197. The following letters may be included on the command line when invoking 
  198. the program to provide the following results.
  199.  
  200.       /D D or DEMO --- Starts the game in the Demo mode.  Push F-1
  201.                to end the Demo.
  202.  
  203.       /S S or SILENT - Starts the game without the Sound Blaster 
  204.                selected. 
  205.  
  206.       /F F OR FAST --- Starts the game with game speed set to 20.
  207.  
  208.       /T T OR TUTOR -- Starts the game with the tutor selected.
  209.  
  210.       /L L OR LOSEONTIE -- The game rules are changed so that bets on
  211.       Player or Banker lose to the house if the results of the hand is
  212.       a tie.  Normal rules make this situation a push and neither Player
  213.       or Banker bets win or lose.
  214.  
  215. NOTE:  These command line options may be combined if desired.
  216.  
  217.             PLAYING THE GAME
  218.  
  219. The information provided below applies to the registered version of this
  220. game.  Some features are reserved for registered users.  See Registration
  221. benefits above for a list of these features.
  222.  
  223. Follow the prompts to sign in.  Up to 6 "HUMAN" players may play at the 
  224. same time.  If less than 6 "HUMANS" will play,  up to 3 computer players 
  225. will fill in the empty seats.
  226.  
  227. The first step is for each player to place a bet.  The player's name
  228. (who is next in line to place a bet) will flash until his bet is
  229. placed.  
  230.  
  231. The letter in () for each menu category may be used from the
  232. keyboard to access that menu item.  If in a sub menu, the first
  233. letter of the menu item will activate that menu event.
  234.  
  235. Buttons on a menu will not be present for a category that is N/A
  236. at that time.  For instance,  the (P)ush last bet category will
  237. only have a button next to it if the previous bet round was won. 
  238.  
  239. Escape will exit from the present menu to the invoking menu.  If in
  240. the MAIN MENU, pushing Escape will produce the same results as select-
  241. ing the QUIT button.
  242.  
  243.                MAIN MENU
  244.  
  245. Bet P(L)ayers --- implements the PLAYER bet.
  246.  
  247. Bet B(A)nkers --- implements the BANKER bet.
  248.  
  249. Bet T(I)e     --- implements the TIE bet.
  250.  
  251. NOTE: The chip value and as a result the range of bets available
  252. can be changed when in any of the 3 above menus.  Increase the chip
  253. value (bet amounts) by moving the hand pointer to the plus (+) button
  254. at the top of the menu.  Push the left mouse button to increase the 
  255. chip value in $5.00 increments with each mouse button push.  Push the 
  256. right mouse button to change the chip value at a faster pace.  Move the
  257. hand pointer to the minus (-) key to decrease the chip value as above.
  258. You may use the + and - keys on your keyboard to produce the same 
  259. results as moving your hand pointer to the + or - button and 
  260. pressing the right mouse button.
  261.  
  262. (R)epeat Last --- Allows the better to repeat his last bet.  No
  263.           button for this selection until an initial bet
  264.           has been made.
  265.  
  266. (P)ush Last Win - Allows the better to press his last bet plus 
  267.           winnings for the next bet.  No button for this
  268.           selection unless the better's last bet was a 
  269.           winner.
  270.  
  271. (C)hip Value ---- Allows the better to select the value of the
  272.           smallest chip.  The chip value is adjustable 
  273.           from $10 to $200.  Possible bets range from this 
  274.           chip value to 5 x this chip value. The chip value
  275.           can also be changed when placing a bet to allow
  276.           for the full range of possible bets.
  277.  
  278. (G)ame Speed ---- Game speed ranges from 1 to 25.  Higher values 
  279.           equal faster games.  If a sound blaster is
  280.           found by the game, it will be disabled at 
  281.           settings above 20 and must be reselected through
  282.           the options menu after the game speed has been
  283.           reduced to 20 or below.
  284.  
  285. (O)ptions ------- Opens the options menu.
  286.  
  287.              OPTIONS MENU
  288.  
  289. (P)ass Shoe ----- Allows the better who is the BANKER to pass
  290.           the bank (shoe) if he/she so desires.
  291.  
  292. (B)accarat Info - Provides general information concerning Baccarat,
  293.           Commissions, Game Play and Payoffs.  If NEXT is 
  294.           selected, a table of RULES GOVERNING CARD DRAWS
  295.           is displayed.
  296.  
  297.           The unregistered version of this program has 2
  298.           additional pages of information concerning regis-
  299.           tration information.  A registration form may be
  300.           printed out while in the first 2 pages of this
  301.           menu item.
  302.  
  303. (T)utor --------- This selection can be toggled on/off.  When On
  304.           (button down), the large curtain in the center of 
  305.           the game screen drops down from the top and the 
  306.           player will be provided with an explanation of the
  307.           game as it proceeds.  Each step in the game play 
  308.           will be explained.  To move to the next step one
  309.           need only push a mouse or keyboard key.  Once the 
  310.           player no longer needs the TUTOR, he/she can toggle
  311.           toggle it off.
  312.  
  313. (S)tats --------- Shows game statistics for each player at the table.
  314.  
  315. (R)esults ------- When selected (button down), the large curtain in 
  316.           the center of the game screen drops down from the
  317.           top and the player is provided with a listing of 
  318.           all players, their last bet and the results of the
  319.           round.  NOTE: this will happen at the end of the 
  320.           round regardless of the status of the Results 
  321.           button.  When Results is selected, the results
  322.           screen stays in view throughout the game (unless
  323.           the TUTOR is also selected).  If not selected, it 
  324.           will be moved out of view when the cards are 
  325.           played.  
  326.         
  327. (M)ouse --------- This selection allows adjustment of the mouse
  328.           sensitivity.
  329.  
  330. (V)oice --------- When selected (button down), the talk seen in the
  331.           dealers talk balloons will be annunciated by the
  332.           sound blaster (provided one is available and the
  333.           optional Voice Pack has been ordered).  This 
  334.           selection can be toggled On/Off.  If the game speed
  335.           is increased above 20 the sound blaster is disabled.

  337. (E)xit ---------- Exits the Options menu back to the Main Menu.
  338.  
  339.                  GAME LIMITATIONS
  340.                  
  341. 1.  Commissions will be rounded to the nearest dollar amount if an odd
  342. bet amount is being used.  
  343.                  
  344.                  USE WITH WINDOWS
  345.  
  346. 1.  This product was not written specifically for windows compatibility,
  347. but in most cases it can be used from WINDOWS 3.1.  Compatibility with 
  348. WINDOWS is not guaranteed.  To use this product from windows perform the 
  349. following......
  350.  
  351.     a. Install the program normally from DOS. Make note of the drive
  352.        and directory on which you installed the program.
  353.     b. Start Windows.  Bring up the Program Manager.
  354.  
  355.        NOTE: If you want to place this file into an existing Program
  356.        Group, select the program group you want this program to fit 
  357.        into and skip to step f.
  358.  
  359.     c. Click on File then click New. 
  360.     d. Select Program Group then click the OK button. 
  361.     e. In Description enter "GAMBLERS", then click the OK button.
  362.     f. Click File from the Program Manager, then click New.
  363.     g. Select Program Item then click the OK button.
  364.     h. In the Program Item Properties box enter the following.
  365.        Description      : "ULTIMATE BACCARAT".
  366.        Command Line     : "BACCARAT.EXE"
  367.        Working Directory: (enter the drive and directory as noted in A
  368.        above.  EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat"
  369.     i. Click Change Icon button then click the next OK button.
  370.     j. In the File Name block enter "(drive and directory as noted in A
  371.        above plus "\BAC.ICO"), then push the OK button. 
  372.        EXAMPLE: "d:\baccarat\bac.ico". 
  373.     k. You should see the BACCARAT icon appear as the Program Item 
  374.        Properties dialoge box reappears.  Push the OK button and you
  375.        are now done.
  376.     
  377.     NOTE: If you have a sound blaster, insure the proper driver is 
  378.     installed through the Windows Control Panel.  You may have to adjust
  379.     the DMA buffer.  If you receive a windows error message advising you
  380.     to adjust the DMA buffer, use an ASCII text editor to add the 
  381.     following line to the [386Enh] section or your windows "system.ini" 
  382.     file.  Add "DMABUFFERSIZE = 017" to this file.

  384.              OTHER ULTIMATE GAMES
  385.  
  386. Go where no card player has gone before, into the ULTIMATE ZONE.  These 2
  387. exciting and addictive games will provide hours of entertainment and 
  388. excitement.  Each game has been designed to provide a realistic simulation of
  389. the game it emulates.  These games use keyboard or mouse and require 545K, 
  390. EGA or VGA, DOS 3.1 or above, and a hard disk.  A sound blaster voice pack 
  391. is available for both games.

  393.                 ULTIMATE BLACKJACK
  394.  
  395. Enter a fully animated casino card game and gambling school where you play
  396. solo against the dealer or with any of 12 computer characters, each with a
  397. different style of play (biographies included!).  Set the number of decks,
  398. change the rules to match any casino, and monitor stats as the game 
  399. progresses.  See how the other player's strategies and bets fare in the long
  400. run.  Want more, how about this -- a simulation feature lets you test custom 
  401. strategies!  You can even use 2 different card counting systems.  Novices 
  402. will also appreciate the slick online tutor that suggests the best moves.  
  403. Even more features are included, but be prepared!  If you take a seat at 
  404. this table you may never get up!

  406.                   ULTIMATE GIN
  407.  
  408. Pull up a seat and get ready for a great game of GIN RUMMY with one of 8
  409. notorious players.  Choose the game variation you like to play (Standard
  410. Gin or one of 2 forms of Oklahoma Gin).  Hollywood scoring is an option
  411. you can choose to spice up the game.  How about the game score?  You can
  412. set the game score and all bonus points to the way you want them.  Play up
  413. to 40 games in a match with any of the 8 players.  Continue the match at
  414. a later time, or start a new match if desired.  Check out the player's 
  415. biographies and see which one (playing skill for each is different) you want
  416. to challenge.  Set the game speed, check the score book at any time and 
  417. much more.
