  1. 'The Legacy' - README

  4. Since the manual and Technical Supplement were written
  5. the following changes have been made to 'The Legacy'.
  6.  
  7. Keyboard Controls
  8.  
  9. It is now possible to move through the game using these
  10. keys:
  11.  
  12.         Q       turn left
  13.         W       move forwards
  14.         E       turn right
  15.  
  16.         A       move left
  17.         S       move backwards
  18.         D       move right
  19.  
  20. Sound & Music
  21.  
  22.     There is no 'Game Options' menu at the start of the
  23.     game, as was stated in the manual. Sound and music
  24.     are now controlled from within the game. The main
  25.     menu contains options to turn the music and off and
  26.     on. The menu offers an action such as to turn "Music
  27.     Off" rather than reporting the state (if you can
  28.     turn it off it must be on now).

  30.     To use a Roland LAPC-1 in addition to a SoundBlaster
  31.     'compatible' rather than an original SoundBlaster,
  32.     select the particular SoundBlaster compatible card
  33.     during installation and then run the game using:

  35.         legacy -roland

  38. Window Layouts
  39.  
  40.     It is possible to save window layouts in the same
  41.     manner as saving game positions. If a default layout
  42.     (DEFAULT.LAY) is present in the directory containing
  43.     The Legacy it will be loaded at the start of a game.

  45. Experience Points
  46.  
  47.     Experience Points are shown on the character's
  48.     statistic window.  Check this frequently to see how
  49.     many experience points the character has gained.
  50.     Skills can be increased relatively cheaply, but
  51.     Attributes may be increased only after amassing
  52.     large numbers of Experience Points. If you want to
  53.     increase your character's Attributes then be sure to
  54.     save up your Experience Points.

  57. Running 'The Legacy' in other than the local language.
  58.  
  59.     If you wish to play the game in a language which
  60.     does not match your manual you can do so by
  61.     specifying your manual language (so that the copy
  62.     protection will work) with the following command
  63.     line overrides:

  65.         -cpEnglish    -   for an English manual
  66.         -cpFrancais   -   for a French manual
  67.         -cpDeutsch    -   for a German manual
  68.  
  69.     For Example:

  71.         legacy -cpEnglish
  72.  
  73.     will assume an English manual whichever language has
  74.     been selected in the install program.
