  2. Configure Game Option.
  3.  
  4. This option lets you select the type of advanced sound and/or 
  5. music card[s] you wish to use.  It will allow you to make 
  6. changes if your sound and/or music card is not set at the 
  7. factory default settings. If you do not have a sound or music 
  8. card, this option does not apply to you.
  9. #
  10. Make Boot Floppy.
  11.  
  12. This option will make a start up floppy disk that will bring 
  13. you directly into the program.  It will also correct most
  14. memory problems.  You will need a diskette that fits in your 
  15. A: drive.  YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS IN YOUR A: DRIVE WITH A HIGH
  16. DENSITY DISKETTE.  Select MAKE BOOT FLOPPY and follow the 
  17. on-screen instructions.  To use this Boot Floppy, place the 
  18. disk in your A: drive and re-boot your computer.  If you do 
  19. not need a BOOT FLOPPY, proceed to INSTALL GAME.

  21. Install Game.
  22.  
  23. INSTALL GAME will install the program to the specified drive 
  24. and directory.
  25. #                 
  26. Exit.
  27.  
  28. Selecting EXIT will terminate the install routine and return 
  29. you to the DOS prompt.
  30. #
  31. Select Sound Card.
  32.  
  33. This will let you choose from a list of different sound cards
  34. that are supported by this program.  Move the highlighted bar 
  35. over the desired type of sound card and press <ENTER>.  After 
  36. you specify the type of sound card, move the highlighted bar 
  37. to CHANGE SOUND DEFAULT and press <ENTER>.  See the CHANGE 
  38. SOUND DEFAULT help-screen for assistance in setting the sound 
  39. card interrupts.  If you do not have an advanced sound card, 
  40. select DONE and proceed to INSTALL GAME.

  42. Select Music Card
  43.  
  44. This will allow those who have more than one sound card to 
  45. designate a specific sound card for music.  Move the high-
  46. lighted bar over the desired sound card and press <ENTER>.  
  47. Then move the highlighted bar to CHANGE SOUND DEFAULT and 
  48. press <ENTER>.  Follow the CHANGE SOUND DEFAULT help-screen 
  49. for assistance in setting the sound card interrupts. If you 
  50. do not have a music card, skip this option, select DONE and 
  51. proceed to INSTALL GAME.

  53. Change Sound Default IO, DMA and IRQ
  54.  
  55. IO, DMA and IRQ settings refer to numerical parameters that 
  56. permit your computer to properly recognize and use your sound 
  57. card. If the sound card is not set to its default you will
  58. have to select this option and set-up the sound card. If you
  59. do not know what these settings are, use the test program that
  60. came with the sound card. If you still can not determine what 
  61. the settings are, you will have to contact the sound card
  62. company for this information.

  64. Change Music Default IO, DMA and IRQ
  65.  
  66. IO, DMA and IRQ settings refer to numerical parameters that

  78. portion of the install routine, select DONE and return to
  79. the Main Menu.

  88. By selecting SoundBlaster (or 100% compatible) you are 
  89. instructing the program to install the sound drivers 
  90. that operate with the SoundBlaster sound card.

  94. By selecting SoundBlaster Pro or 16 you are instructing
  95. the program to install the sound drivers that operate
  96. with the SoundBlaster sound card.

  98. Pro Audio Spectrum 16

  100. By selecting Pro Audio Spectrum 16 you are instructing
  101. the program to install the sound drivers that operate
  102. with the Pro Audio Spectrum 16 sound card.

  104. Gravis Ultra Sound

  106. By selecting Gravis Ultra Sound you are instructing
  107. the program to install the sound drivers that operate
  108. with the Gravis Ultra Sound sound card.

  110. Ensoniq Soundscape

  112. By selecting Ensoniq Soundscape you are instructing
  113. the program to install the sound drivers that operate
  114. with the Ensoniq Soundscape sound card.

  116. Aria Chip Set
  117.  
  118. By selecting Aria Chip Set you are instructing
  119. the program to install the sound drivers that operate
  120. with an Aria chip driven sound card.

  122. No Music
  123.  
  124. If you do not have an advanced sound card, select No Music.

  127. SoundBlaster (or 100% compatible)

  129. By selecting SoundBlaster (or 100% compatible) you are 
  130. instructing the program to install the music drivers 
  131. that operate with the SoundBlaster sound card.

  133. Pro Audio Spectrum 16

  135. By selecting Pro Audio Spectrum 16 you are instructing
  136. the program to install the music drivers that operate
  137. with the Pro Audio Spectrum 16 sound card.

  139. Roland (LAPC-1, MT-32, SoundCanvas)
  140.  
  141. By selecting Roland you are instructing the program to
  142. install the music drivers that operate with the
  143. Roland LAPC-1, MT-32, or SoundCanvas.

  145. General Midi or MPU-401
  146.  
  147. By selecting General Midi you are instructing the program
  148. to install the music drivers that operate with any
  149. General Midi or MPU-401 sound card.

  151. Gravis Ultra Sound
  152.  
  153. By selecting Gravis Ultra Sound you are instructing
  154. the program to install the music drivers that operate
  155. with the Gravis Ultra Sound sound card.
  156. #
  157. Ensoniq Soundscape
  158.  
  159. By selecting Ensoniq Soundscape you are instructing
  160. the program to install the music drivers that operate
  161. with the Ensoniq Soundscape sound card.

  163. Aria Chip Set
  164.  
  165. By selecting Aria Chip Set you are instructing
  166. the program to install the music drivers that operate
  167. with an Aria chip driven sound card.

  169. Input Path
  170.  
  171. Path refers to the drive and directory in which program files
  172. reside.  This program offers a default path that we recommend.
  173. You may alter the path by specifying the drive and existing
  174. directory in which you want the program to reside.  Type the
  175. drive letter and name of directory in the ENTER PATH field and
  176. press <ENTER>.

  179. Change IO Address
  180.  
  181. By selecting Change IO Address, you are allowed to change
  182. the default IO Address.  Type the new IO Address and
  183. press <ENTER>.
  184. #
  185. Change IRQ
  186.  
  187. By selecting Change IRQ, you are allowed to change the
  188. default setting IRQ to whatever other setting your 
  189. card requires.  Type the new IRQ setting and press <ENTER>.

  191. Change DMA
  192.  
  193. By selecting Change DMA, you are allowed to change the DMA 
  194. setting.  Type the DMA Channel your sound card is using
  195. and press <ENTER>.

  197. Return to the Configure Menu.
  198.  
  199. This will bring you back to the Configure Menu after your 
  200. selections and changes are made.

  202. How to enter the IO Address
  203.  
  204. Type the three digit number to indicate the IO Address for 
  205. the sound card you are using.  Examples would be 220, 230, 240.
  206. #
  207. How to enter the IRQ
  208.  
  209. Type the one or two digit number to indicate the IRQ setting
  210. for the sound card you are using.  Examples would be 10, 5, 2. 
  211. #
  212. How to enter the DMA
  213.  
  214. Type the one digit number to indicate the DMA Channel for the
  215. sound card you are using.  Examples would be 1, 2, 3.
  216. #
  217. ADVISORY: You do not have enough memory to run game.
  218.  
  219. Because of other programs you are running, or the way your 
  220. computer is configured, there is not enough CONVENTIONAL 
  221. MEMORY to run this game.  Use the MAKE BOOT FLOPPY option 
  222. to correct this problem.

  224. ADVISORY: No EMS driver found. Create some...
  225.  
  226. This game requires you to have an EMS driver.  This driver 
  227. will turn XMS (Extended Memory) into EMS (Expanded Memory).
  228. Use the CREATE A BOOT DISK option to correct this problem.
  229. #
  230. ADVISORY: Not enough EMS found.
  231.  
  232. Your computer has fallen short of the required EMS memory.  
  233. You may try the CREATE A BOOT DISK option to correct this.
