  6. Can You Use This Game???
  7.     This game runs on a 520 ST with a monochrome screen.
  8. I know for a fact it runs on a 1 Meg 520 ST with ROM TOS.  Since
  9. I can also run the game with a 576K ram disk, I assume it also
  10. runs without the 1 Meg upgrade.  No joysticks are needed.  It is
  11. a two player game only.
  12.     I am making modifications for a colour version.  But it
  13. will take time.

  16. DECODING INSTRUCTIONS:

  18. This is my version of SPACE WAR.  The file below contains
  19. 4 files:
  20.     spacewar.prg    obvious
  21.     spacewar.img    the image file
  22.     spacewar.rsc    the resource file
  23.     spacewar.txt    instructions, comments etc.
  24. Please cut at both lines and UUDECODE to get SPACEWAR.ARC
  25. I have used the standard UNIX UUENCODE so there are trailing
  26. blanks all over the place.
  27. Then, use ARC to get the named files.

  30. COMMENTS ON THE GAME:
  31.  
  32.     This game had many inspirations.  The first is the 
  33. original SPACE WAR game, as in the arcade version.  The second
  34. was an article in Scientific American that reminded me of the
  35. game.  The third is the lack of really good player VS player
  36. games on the ST.  (or any computer.  Most games are written for
  37. people to play one at a time.  I don't get much satisfaction out
  38. of playing against computers:  Human beings are much more fun
  39. opponents, they get frustated and sneaky.)
