  1. Desk Manager 3.3 DESKTOP.INF/NEWDESK.INF Zaps

  4. The data files in this archive will enable you to patch your copy of
  5. Charles F. Johnson's Desk Manager 3.3 so it can manage the desktop
  6. configuration files used by TOS 2.0x ("Newdesk TOS"). After the zap is
  7. applied, Desk Manager will be able to manage NEWDESK.INF files for
  8. different resolutions or configurations.
  9.  
  10. Note: A patched copy of Desk Manager _WILL NOT_ be able to manage your
  11. old DESKTOP.INF files.
  12.  
  13. DESK2NEW.ZAP is used to make this change. NEW2DESK.ZAP is also supplied
  14. so you can reverse the change if you wish.

  17. To perform the patch, follow these simple instructions:
  18.  
  19.   1.  IMPORTANT!!!  Make a copy of your DESKMG33.PRG program file and store
  20.       it in a safe place, just in case something goes wrong during the
  21.       upgrade process.  Don't modify your only copy!
  22.  
  23.   2.  Run the program SUPERZAP.PRG, which is included with this archive
  24.       file.  When the program starts, click the button labeled "Read ZAP
  25.       Data."  A GEM file selector will appear.
  26.  
  27.   3.  Use the file selector to locate and select the file which has the
  28.       patch you want to install:

  30.         DESK2NEW.ZAP lets Desk Manager manage NEWDESK.INF files.
  31.         NEW2DESK.ZAP lets Desk Manager manage DESKTOP.INF files.

  33.       SUPERZAP will load the ZAP file, and the button underneath "Read
  34.       ZAP Data" will now read "DeskMgr3.3 + NEWDESK" (or "DESKTOP"), and
  35.       become selectable.

  37.   4.  Click on this button and a GEM file selector appears, letting you
  38.       locate the copy of Desk Manager that is to be upgraded.  Select the
  39.       program file and SUPERZAP will do its job, applying the zap you
  40.       selected.
