  2. Warp 9 Control Panel 1.6 Update

  6. Version 1.6 of the Warp 9 Control Panel adds a "poor man's randomizer"
  7. feature, with the ability to automatically load a different random
  8. screensaver module at every bootup.  (Sorry, no dynamic random modules
  9. yet...)

  11. This update is from either version 1.5 or 1.51 to version 1.6.

  14. Performing the Update
  15. ---------------------

  17. Run the CodeHead Updater program included with this text file, and you'll
  18. see a dialog box with three buttons -- Exit, Info, and Do Update.  Click
  19. the Info button first to see a screen with information about this update.
  20.  
  21. When you're ready to update your copy of the program, click the button
  22. labeled Do Update and use the file selector to locate and select the
  23. program.  The Updater will read the file, verify that it's the correct
  24. one, then make all the necessary changes and write the file back out to
  25. disk.  A copy of the original file is placed in the same directory,
  26. renamed with a .BAK extension, in the unlikely event that something goes
  27. wrong.

  29. After updating your Warp 9 Control Panel, you should reboot your computer
  30. so that the new version of the desk accessory is loaded.  If you're using
  31. MultiDesk Deluxe, you can simply reload your default setup file to install
  32. the new version.

  35. The Poor Man's Randomizer
  36. -------------------------

  38. To use the randomizer feature, open your updated copy of the Warp 9
  39. Control Panel and go to the EOS configuration page by clicking on the
  40. button labeled 'EOS' at the bottom of the Control Panel.  At the bottom
  41. right of this page, you'll see a new check box labeled 'RANDOM'; it will
  42. be unchecked when you first see it.  Click the box (or the word RANDOM) to
  43. place a checkmark in it; this turns on the randomizer feature.

  45. The randomizer looks in the current EOS module path for randomly loaded
  46. modules, so it's a good idea to set this path where you want it by
  47. clicking the 'Load' button in the EOS config page and using the file
  48. selector to navigate to the desired path (if it's not already set).  To
  49. set the path, it's not necessary to actually load a module; you can click
  50. the file selector's 'Cancel' button to continue.

  52. Now save your Control Panel configuration by clicking the 'SAVE' button at
  53. the bottom of the CP.  This saves the state of the 'RANDOM' check box, and
  54. the module path.  And that's all there is to it; the next time you boot
  55. up, the Control Panel will automatically load a random module from the
  56. directory you've selected.

  58. Remember that the EOS module path is saved in the Warp 9 Control Panel's
  59. configuration file, and that the Control Panel saves a different
  60. configuration file for each screen mode.  Since some screensavers don't
  61. work in all screen modes, this lets you set up different paths for the
  62. randomizer in each resolution, containing the modules that work in that
  63. resolution.
