  5.          A viewer for Calamus CFN fonts which needs an ST running 
  6.          in high resolution, or with a mono emulator.
  7.          At the moment all fonts are shown in outline only but  I 
  8.          find  this sufficient to be able to see whether  a  font 
  9.          has  been constructed well and whether it  contains  all 
  10.          the characters I want.

  12.          The files JCCFNV01.PRG and JCCFNVUE.TXT constitute a  PD 
  13.          package which may be copied freely,  given away, held on 
  14.          BBS and in PD libraries and distributed for nominal care 
  15.          and  copying fees.  The program and text file remain  my 
  16.          copyright and should not be altered in any way. They may 
  17.          not be distributed on magazine cover disks without first 
  18.          obtaining my written permission.

  20.          I  give no warranties either expressed or  implied  that 
  21.          this  program will run on your hardware or that it  will 
  22.          do everything you wish.  You use it entirely at your own 
  23.          risk.  This  having been said I have taken care that  it 
  24.          works  perfectly  on all the harware I have and  with  a 
  25.          variety of software setups.

  27.          Using the program is very simple - just double click  on 
  28.          the  program  and  the  main  working  screen  will   be 
  29.          presented.  You  will see details of a PD font which  is 
  30.          built in to the program.

  32.          At the bottom of the screen are various options.

  34.          ABCD... click here to see all the capital letters
  35.  
  36.          abcd... here to see the lower case letters
  37.  
  38.          123.£$% here to see the numerals and most punctuation
  39.          βã«á..?  and here for other characters which may be 
  40.                   available.

  42.          Clicking one of the above and seeing nothing means that 
  43.          no characters were available for that section.

  45.          LOAD presents a file selector so you can load a .CFN 
  46.               font file
  47.  
  48.          QUIT when you have had enough!

  50.          Most PD fonts should load and display without problems. 
  51.          I have tried it out on over 100 different CFN files.

  53.          I have found the rare one which will crash the program - 
  54.          in these cases they crash everything I've tried to  load 
  55.          them in to so they are most probably corrupted files!

  57.          Some will give an alert to say they use encryption and 
  58.          so far I have not found the right method for displaying 
  59.          them. (next version I hope!)
  60.  
  61.          A few may show grossly mis-shaped letters (one line will 
  62.          shoot  across  the screen).  In these cases there  is  a 
  63.          mistake  in the font file and these fonts cause  Calamus 
  64.          to crash if those letters are used. Usually they can be
  65.          put right using one of the many Calamus font editors.
