  7. FizzBill is a program that will calculate how much you have spent on you
  8. comms phonebill, when using the Freeze Dried Terminal program.  I wrote
  9. FizzBill for my own use, but soon realised that quite a lot of other people 
  10. wanted to see how much they have spent on their calls.

  19. Teddy-TERM v1 originally started life as a simple shell program to
  20. allow you to use external protocols such as XYZ.TTP and Jekyll easily 
  21. from within Vanterm. As time passed it was obvious Vanterm was not 
  22. going to be developed any further so after many requests to extend 
  23. Teddy-TERM v1 into a self contained terminal program I decided to 
  24. take the bait and try it. The main driving force behind wanting to 
  25. start programming Teddy-TERM v2 was that I could learn more about the 
  26. ST's methods of communicating with the outside world and secondly 
  27. more about using the excellent extended GEM handling routines written 
  28. by Gregor Duchalski. The result of many hours work is now presented 
  29. to you in the form of Teddy-TERM v2, it has finally grown up into a 
  30. fully functional communications terminal which will support many of 
  31. the external protocol programs available as well as ANSI, VT100 and 
  32. VT52 terminal emulations.

  34. One of my main goals with Teddy-TERM v2 was to make it as easy to use 
  35. as possible for anyone who is new to ST comms, also to make it easily 
  36. adaptable for anyone already experienced in ST comms who were still 
  37. looking for their ideal terminal program. I know there are many more 
  38. terminal programs available with many more features, a lot of them 
  39. much better, some more confusing to use, but in practical comms, how 
  40. many of the extra features are really useful?

  44. What's TT2Fizz?

  47. This program will convert the System log file from TeddyTerm v2.12 into a 
  48. format that FizzBill can read.

  50. Although TeddyTerm v2.12 has a built in call coster, which is fine for most
  51. people, I thought it would be a nice idea to get a more detailed list of calls
  52. made with TeddyTerm.

  54. Using TT2Fizz

  57. First you might need to modify some of your TeddyTerm options:
  58.  
  59.  o Bring up the popup menu (left mouse button)
  60.  o Select the 'Terminal Settings' option.    
  61.  o Make sure the 'Use System Log File' option is ON
  62.  o Save the settings

  64. Next you will need to modify the config. file, that TT2Fizz will read
  65. when run.  Here's an example of the ascii TT2FIZZ.CFG file...

  67. D:\TTERM212\T_TERM2.LOG                ! Path & Filename TeddyTerm Log
  68. D:\BTLOGS\                             ! Path to write converted logs
  69. NO                                     ! Delete TeddyTerm Log file [YES/NO]

  71. The 1st line is the path & filename of TeddyTerm's System Log file.

  73. The 2nd line is the path of where TT2Fizz will write the converted files,
  74. Note that you MUST create this folder yourself.

  76. The 3rd line tells TT2Fizz to delete the TeddyTerm log AFTER the calls have been
  77. converted, if you put YES in the line.   I'd start off with NO in this line,
  78. until your sure everything is working ok, after which modify this to YES.
  79. Note that one version of the log file is kept BEFORE deleteing ie. TTERM_2.OLD

  81. You will now be told that the TeddyTerm log file is being read.

  83. If any calls have been found then TT2Fizz will tell you the date that
  84. the call was made and will write the information to a log file.  For
  85. example, if you made a call on 1-Jan-1994 then the log created will be
  86. called TT940101.LOG.

  88. You should now have some TTyymmdd.LOG files, all you do now is run
  89. FizzBill...

  91. Problems/Comments

  94. TT2Fizz v1.0 (which was released with FizzBill v2.3) read the capture 
  95. buffer files, made by TeddyTerm v2.10.
  96.  
  97. This version (v2.0) of TT2Fizz will NOT work with v2.10, since it no 
  98. longer reads the capture buffer files.
