3DSCROLL
Author: Tony Barker, Sydney, Australia
This demonstration illustrates many of the colours that are now part of
the extended colour palette of the STe. At any one time, there are
approximately 500 colours being displayed on the screen.
We have also included a single channel sound mix sampled at 12517Hz. This
will replay through the internal speaker on your monitor. Alternatively,
connect the STe to your sound system using the two RCA jacks on the back
panel, sit back and enjoy the music!
On an STe configured for PAL, 3DSCROLL operates at 50 frames per second
compared to about 4 frames per second doing the same operation with only
the MC 68000 in use.
Timing factors may upset the program on an NTSC machine. To overcome
this problem, we suggest you run the 50/60 Hz patch file in your AUTO
folder. This program was placed in the public domain to overcome some
of the early problems associated with Spectrum 512 on the Australian PAL
machines.
TO OPERATE:
- Double-click on 3DSCROLL.PRG to launch this demonstration.
Yes! 3DSCROLL may be launched in either low or medium resolution.
- Toggle the SPACE BAR to pause the bouncing balls. Pressing the
Q key will exit 3DSCROLL and return you to the desktop.
- Be sure to connect your Atari STe to the loudest "ghetto blaster"
you can place your hands on and pump up the volume. Enjoy!
