Hi...
Several people have asked me recently about various Atari modifications and h/w
hacks that can be made to the ST series of computers. So rather than keep it to
myself, I thought I'd release it (gently) to the network. There are a range of
hardware mods that can be carried out to the Atari series which makes it into a
really excellent machine for packet radio (as if it wasn't already).
I've carried out these mods myself, so I can vouch for their "workability" but
I'll not take any responsibility if you "mess up", so if you don't have the
confidence to tackle the mod and then put it back as it was if it doesn't work,
then please don't try it.
OK that said, I have various areas of experience, which I will pass on to you.
I aim to cover such topics as :-
High Density Disk drives (1.44 meg, compatible with PC's if you use TOS 1.4)
Overscanning - giving a resolutions of (depending on you monitor) 672x480 on an
SM125 monitor (752x480 on an NEC Multisync GS)
SCC/ESCC card based "TNCless" packet on the Atari and using a cheap Atari STFM
to build a high speed multi-port (up to 14) packet switch node.
All works and s/w are in the public domain and the original authors works are
preserved as is (apart from being split for the network).
The first will be the High Density mods and released in consecutive parts as a
series of plain text files.
Have fun.......
