** Atari ST Graphics Programs & Utilities **
***********************************************************************
3DFRAC Fractals by Frank Mathy. This program generates a 3 dimensional
fractal and displays it in a window. Using the slider bars of the
window, you can change the perspective used to view the fractal.
Runs in ST Medium resolution only.
89A_87A GIF 89A to 87A converter by Damien M. Jones. This is a simple
program that converts GIF 89a format pictures (the new standard) to
GIF 87a format pictures (the old standard). In the process, any
extra information in the GIF is stripped out, so the image may not be
exactly the way it's supposed be (this won't happen too often,
though). Now you can use newer GIFs with some of the older software.
AIM_3_1 AIM version 3.1. AIM: Another Image Manager was originally developed
for the ATARI ST by Frans Groen and Robert de Vries. Since the first
version of AIM the extension of this public domain image processing
package has become a joint effort of a number of people from the
Delft University of Technology and the University of Amsterdam.
AIM_XTRA A collection of "extra" file for use with the AIM image manager.
Includes a tutorial.
ANCIEN The Ancient Art of ASCII version 1.0 by David Becker is a program
that will convert Degas *.PI3 pictures to ASCII text screens (ASCII
ART). When these screens are printed, they really do look like the
original picture. Amazing!
ANSIST20 ANSI-ST version 0.20 by Mark Matts. The Atari ST ANSI screen driver.
Once installed in your auto folder this small program will give your
machine ANSI screen output whilst maintaining VT52 compatibility. Any
programs which use TOS screen output will now be able to emulate
ANSI. Even Vanterm can now support ANSI BBS's!
ARTPRINT ArtPrint version 1.2 by Peter D. Hibbs is a clip art printing
program. Since there are hundreds of clip art pictures in the public
domain it is obviously very difficult to remember every one and which
file it is. To aid in keeping track of them, this program allows
complete disks of picture files to be printed out in one session.
ARTST232 Art-ST version 2.32 by Robert M. Birmingham is a powerful drawing
program that operates in ST low, ST medium, or ST high resolution.
Not only will you find many of the features expected in a drawing
program (such as; Boxes, Circles/Ellipses, Area Fills, Copy & Paste,
and Fine Pixel Editing), but Art-ST also explores some rather unique
areas of its own!
ASCGIF Ascgif version 1.6 is a port of a mainframe gif viewer for text
output. New with version 1.6 is screen capture. Views gifs in ascii
characters. Not breath-taking but good for a preview or gif 87a
checker. Best when viewed by a terminal with light characters and a
black background. C source code included.
ASPX18 Version 1.8 of the SPX (SPectrum eXtended) viewer. Will only work on
computers that are capable of viewing "normal" Spectrum format
graphics (menaing it does NOT work on the TT or Falcon030).
BCONV174 BConvert version 1.74 (ß) by Andreas Bath is a powerful, GEM based
graphics format converter/transformer for the Atari ST, STe, TT, and
Falcon030.
BGIF B-Gif by Bradford W. Mott is a program that converts GIF pictures to
Degas (PI1 and PI2) and SPU format pictures. The program requires
some big buffers and will not work very good (maybe not at all) on a
512K machine.
CAD ZPCAD version 1.00 by Burkhard E. Strauss released 12/30/90. This is
a great cad program for the ST but it is completely in German. No
written (typed) docs, but includes EXTENSIVE online help (in German
of course).
CANVAS17 Canvas: The Artist's Dream! version 1.17 by John Gymer is a complete
graphics development package in a single program. It boasts multiple
work screens, extensive modes and features including a 3D Editor and
Viewer, an advanced Animation Studio, up to 4096 colours on-screen at
once (on an STE - 512 on most STs), any resolutions, on-screen
HotSpot zoom and much, much more!

tricks. Of course it is all in German.
CHS_PS64 CHAOSultdGEM version 6.40 - complete documentation in PostScript
format. Of course, it is all in German.
COLRDUMP Color Dump by Tony Barker. This program is designed to replace the
built in graphics dump routine (accessed by ALT/HELP) of the ATARI ST
computers. It produces a configurable 9 or 24 pin color screen dump
from within any program run on the machine. The only exceptions to
this are applications that entirely steal keyboard input.
CREATE Create by Jonathan Lawrence is a program that generates 'self-affine'
fractals; meaning fractals that are made up of copies of themselves.
The program contains 38 fractals pre-programmed into it - any of
which you can draw at the touch of a button.
CV2IMG05 Convert to .IMG version 0.50 by Craig W. Daymon is a simple program
that will convert the six DEGAS formats, Neochrome, and Spectrum
uncompressed pictures to a monochrome .IMG format file.
DEGADESK Degas Desk. The primary function of this program is to change the
desktop gray in the monochrome high-resolution with a Degas (Elite)
picture.
DEGAS2PS Degas To Postscript is a program that will convert any Degas format
picture to Postscript format. Includes complete C source code.
DEPICT DEPICT: DEgas to MacPaint PICTure Converter by Rana Dutt. Very
simple to use - just select the Degas file to convert using the Item
Selector, the program will do the rest!
DESKPIC5 DeskPic version 1.05 by Norbert Marschalleck is a program that will
display a picture in the background of your desktop instead of a
plain color or fill pattern. Uses GIF format pictures.
DLVIEWER DL Viewer version 0.01b by Lonny L Pursell. This utility will play
back DL animations. Simply known as DL animations this file format
originates from the PC platform. Many PC CD-ROMS and Bulletin Boards
contain DL files and now you can view them on your Atari.
DMJ_GIF3 DMJ GIF version 3.0 by Damien M. Jones is a GIF to Spectrum
converter. This program also allows you to convert entire batches of
GIF's at once, without your supervision. It allows you to convert to
Spectrum, DEGAS, or Tiny, in color, grey scale, or monochrome, using
either the ST's regular palette or the STe's enhanced palette,
converting ANY size GIF -- and it runs in only a half meg.
EPSXCVG The ultimate EPS convertor for all ATARI ST machines. It converts
all EPS to Calamus CVG format. It does both IBM and MAC EPS formats,
as long as they are in Adobe Illustrator 88 format. It is possible
to convert from EPS and AI to CVG and CVG to EPS.
ESCADA63 ESCAD version A.63 by Andreas Wilcek is a CAD/CAM program for the
Atari ST, STe, TT, and Falcon030. It is shareware from Germany, and
naturally all documentation is in German.
E_CUBE Escher Cubes version 1.4 by Jim Luczak is a complete isometric
drawing system. What are isometric drawings? Isometric drawing is a
method of drawing by which you can create optical illusions. Escher
Cubes does'nt use lines to draw with, instead it uses Cubes. You
read it right, Cubes! The easiest way to picture this drawing system
is to think of each Cube as a Three Dimensional segment of a line.
FANSI100 FANSI version 1.00 by Eric March. The First and ONLY 16 color, 80
column ANSI editor for the Atari line of personal computers! Features
custom 3D interface, boxes, lines, frames, cutting/pasting and more!
Shareware from Tail of the Comet Productions. Unregistered version
has some features disabled - but SAVING isn't one of them.
FIXAGIF Fix a GIF by Lonnie Pursell and ENCOM. Fixes GIFs that have been
processed by GIF Lite and converts 89A files into 87A files.
FIXGIF Fixgif by Stephen K. Mulrine is a program to convert GIF 89a images
into GIF 87a. It strips the comment data from a GIF 89a image, which
is what causes several GIF viewers to fall over. Optionally, the
file can be forced to have a GIF 87a header.
FLMPLAY Kinetics Animation Player version 0.40 by David Ramsden and Paul Dana
is a program to playback *.FLM and *.DLT animations on the Atari ST,
STe, TT, and Falcon030. It has many features to do things like
change the playback rate, etc.
FNC_101 FANSI patch program to upgrade Eric March's FANSI from version 1.00
to version 1.01. A couple of rather serious bugs have been fixed.
Read the enclosed documentation for patch instructions for details.
FRACTALS Fractals by Harald and Martin Hansen is another fractal generator for
the Atari ST. All documentation is in German.
FRACTL11 Mountain Fractals version 1.1 by Damien M. Jones is a small program
that generates three-dimensional mountain fractals. These fractals
can then be saved on disk as CAD-3D 1.0 objects, and loaded into that
program for further manipulation.
GEM2PS A GEM metafile to PostScript converter by Axel Mahler. It reads the
contents of the specified GEM-metafile (as generated e.g. by GEM Draw
or EasyDraw) and transforms it into a stream of PostScript
instructions, which are sent to standard output. The output, when
processed by a PostScript device (such as the Apple LaserWriter),
will print the picture which is represented by the metafile.
GEMFO122 GEMFont version 1.21 by Sascha Blank is a GEM based editor for GDOS
pixel (bitmapped) fonts. The program and all documentation is in
German.
GIF2RAW GIF 2 RAW by P. Hannington. This program converts GIF pictures into
RAW files, which are supported by Photochrome. The program is simple
to use - when you execute it, a standard file selector will appear.
Select the source GIF file. A dialog box will appear which will
contain some information about the picture. Choose a destination RAW
file name and the conversion will begin.
GIFNEOC GIF to NEOchrome converter. This program converts GIF format
pictures to 16 color NeoChrome format. Only runs in ST Low
resolution. It will crop any GIF that is over 320 X 200.
GIFSPC GIF to SPC: The GIF to Atari Spectrum 512 Picture Converter by Steve
Belczyk. It must be run in ST low resolution. It also requires a
few big buffers, so, a 512K may be tight on memory. It will dither
the colors to provide a better representation of the original image.
GIFTOPS GIF to PostScript. This program was written by Harry Waddell. It is
based largely on a public domain UN*X program by Scott Hemphill and
was compiled under GNU C. It does a GREAT job!
GRAPH110 Graph Version 1.10 by Hans-Christoph Ostendorf is a GEM based vector
graphic editor with integrated flexible diagram generator and curve
functions/plotter. Export graphics in GEM Metafile format, GEM Image

to PICSWITCH. It will load NeoChome, Degas, Tiny, IFF, and Spectrum
512 format pics and save in NeoChrome, Degas, and IFF format.
IFFSPC IFF to SPC: The Amiga IFF to Atari ST Picture Converter by Steve
Belczyk. This program can read any Amiga IFF picture and will do its
best to turn it into an SPC picture which can be displayed by any of
the Spectrum slideshow programs, as well as being read into Spectrum
itself for further editing.
IMG2CIMG The IMG2IMG.PRG converts monoplane (plain old black'n'white) GEM IMG
files into GEM color .IMG files (in STTT format as loaded by SEURAT
or XIMG files) with the same pixel dimensions. These converted files
are multi-plane images, however, and now allow for the additional
available colors to be added to the image.
IMG2VIEW .IMG Quick View by W.D. Parks and Chet Walters. This program is just
about the fastest loader of an .IMG file to come down the pike since
the .IMG file came into existence. When combined with Universal Item
Selector II, this little thing can be a very valuable and fast tool
for use in sorting out your massive collection of .IMG files.
IMG_TOOL Image Tool Version 1.10 by Rosin Datentechnik is an image
manipulation tool for the ST. It provides many functions including
printer output. It will handle IMG, PCB, PAC, and PIC format

colors on a standard, unmodified ST. Better than Spectrum!
PCHROME4 PhotoChrome by Douglas Little can load many IFF formats, 24 Bit True
color screens, GIFs and VidiChrome digitised 'RGB' color separations
(4096 colors) before converting to one of six powerful screen modes.
It can display 4096 colors at once on an ST or 19200 colors (out of
32768) at once on an STe.
PCS_PIX1 Three picture files for use with Douglas Little's PhotoChrome. These
pictures show just how nice a job PhotoChrome can do on an ST or STe.
PCS_PIX2 Three more picture files for use with Douglas Little's PhotoChrome.
Even after you see PhotoChrome display pictures like these on stock
ST/STe machines you still won't believe it's possible.
PEARL PEARLE by Allen King is a program that renders 3-dimensional scenes
in a world of reflective and refractive spheres, using ray tracing
techniques. Movies formed from sequences of frames can be generated,
showing reflective balls linked and bouncing in a gravitational
field. They resemble a string of bouncing pearles -- hence the name.
PICSW070 PicSwitch Picture Utility version 0.7.0 by John Brochu. The basic
intent of the program is to provide ST users with the ability to view
as much artwork as possible, and to convert to a format that is
usable to them on the ST.
PICSW101 PicSwitch version 1.0.1 by John Brochu is a graphics file viewer/
printer. This is the long-awaited update to PicSwitch. This version
actually bears no resemblance to its predecessor, being totally re-

Craig Kolb. Rayshade reads a multi-line ASCII file describing a
scene to be rendered and produces a *.MTV format file of the ray
traced image.
SCRTODLT SCR to DLT converter by Jim Kent. This utility converts an Aegis
Animator ST .SCR file to a .DLT file for use with Cyber Paint and
Cybermate. The DLT file will generally be much larger but will
replay smoother (at 30 frames/sec). In a sense this is the "Aegis
Animator Compiler" some of you've been asking for.
SNATCHER The Supreme Screen Snatcher version 1.2 by Douglas Henderson is a
memory-resident utility that allows you to temporarily 'jam' the ST
and then save the currently displayed screen to disk. It also allows
you to search through the memory, looking for other screens or even

really simple program that displays Spectrum pictures. This one also
displays STe Spectrum pictures--on an ST--in 3,375 colors. It also
works at 50Hz _or_ 60Hz, and handles .SPS, .SPC, and .SPU formats.
And it even includes a fix for out-of-sync computers.
SPECDEG This program converts uncompressed Spectrum pictures (filename
extension .SPU) into 16-color Degas low resolution pictures
(extension .PI1). Surprisingly, the 16-color versions of the 512
color pictures often look not bad, especially if the actual number of
colors in the original was sustantially less than 512.
SPECGIF4 This converts Spectrum .SPC or .SPU files to GIF files, 320x200x256
colors. When you start the program a dialog box comes up; it has 3
options: interlace, non-interlace and quit. You'll get exactly the
same GIF picture whether you choose interlace or not; it only affects
the order in which scan lines are stored.
SPECPRNT Spectrum 512 Color Printer Driver by Tony Barker is a program that
allows you to achieve a high quality configurable color printout of
any uncompressed Spectrum 512 file. Supports 9 and 24 pin color dot
matrix printers.
