Have you looked at your watch lately? Set your clock? Marked
your calendar? You guessed it...it's KILLING TIME! So load up your
mouse, scratch that itchy trigger finger and get ready to test
your reflexes in this shoot-em-up from REDRUM ST-WARE.
KILLING TIME is a 15-level game of skill and timing. You
begin with rock in hand, attempting to eliminate the neanderthals
in the "Stone" Age. If you survive, you advance through five
progressive eras, each with more difficult adversaries such as
outlaws in "High Saloon", army combatants in "G.I. Guy", punks
and hoodlums in "Dirty Magnum", and finally, green alien Greebles
in "Zap To The Future".
* * * KILLING TIME RUNS FROM A FLOPPY DISK OR A HARD DRIVE.
* * * EXTRACT ALL THE FILES ONTO THE SAME DIRECTORY OF YOUR
* * * DISK, THEN DOUBLE-CLICK ON "KILLTIME.PRG" TO RUN IT.
* * * THE GAME WILL RUN FROM EITHER LOW OR MEDIUM RESOLUTION.
G A M E P L A Y:
You begin with 5 lives. The game ends when you've
either lost all your lives or you've survived all 15 levels. If
you get a high score, enter your name and it will be saved to
disk.
Use the MOUSE to aim your rock or gunsights at
the targets when they appear on screen. FIRE with the left mouse
button, but you have to be quick because you only get one shot
before the enemy fires back. Higher levels get progressively
harder because you have less time to react.
EXTRA LIVES are awarded for reaching a score of
500, 1000, 1500, etc.
On STAGE 5: LEVEL 2 you must disable all six
AIRLOCKS by shooting them while they are "active" (lit up).
But don't forget about your enemies. The green greebles are
very angry!
On STAGE 5: LEVEL 3 (Final Level) you must
increase the POWER of the generator to 5 by shooting its core,
and reduce the AIR coolant to 1 by hitting the tubing above
the core in order to blow up the generator and win the game.
K E Y B O A R D:
At the MAIN MENU press "S" to start the game,
"H" to display the High Scores, or "CONTROL-C" at any time
to quit the game and return to the desktop.
DURING GAMEPLAY press "P" to pause/unpause
the game or press "R" to restart the game.
*HINTS & TIPS*
(DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT HELP)
1: Avoid shooting P.O.W.s, hostages, dogs and women.
They are harmless (at least in this game) and hitting
them will reduce your score.
2: When a dog appears, shoot anywhere on the screen,
except at the dog, to bring out the next enemy. This
gives you more enemies per level, thus increasing
your score. (Of course...only if you hit them!)
3: Rats, spiders, bats and grenades are not considered
harmless. They are harder to hit but give you more
points then normal...so go for it!
4: If you feel confident enough, don't shoot the war
enemies that appear hidden behind the trees or in
the tent. As soon as you see them, position your
crosshairs and shoot the grenades they release for
extra points. But don't miss...or you DIE!
5: On STAGE 2: LEVEL 3, after leaving the saloon,
keep your eyes open for when the eyes of the skull
in the dirt start flashing red. Shoot it quickly
for bonus points, but don't lose sight of your
enemies.
KILLING TIME is a FREEWARE game by REDRUM ST-WARE. This means
that you are free to distribute this software to
all your fellow ST users and bulletin boards as
long as all files and docs (including this one)
are included.
