This version of KID_GP is public domain. Please feel free to give this
game to all Atari ST users. But PLEASE make sure this DOC file is included
along with the KID_GP.TOS and KID_GP.DAT files. Thanks!
KID_GP (c) 1992 Dave Munsie
About the program:
KID_GP was written in GFA BASIC 3.5E using game development tools provided
by the GP_GRAPHICS ENGINE (c) 1992 DSA.
Installing the program:
First off make sure there is a folder called <KID_GP> in the root directory
of your disk or hard drive. If it isn't already there copy KID_GP.DAT into
this folder along with the .DOC file and the KID_GP.TOS file.
Running the program:
To run KID_GP simply double click on KID_GP.TOS from the low res desktop.
The program should load and display the title screen. Press fire to play!
Who exactly will like this game?
I designed the game with my children in mind and yes they love this game.
It has been beta-tested at an Atari Show and was heavily enjoyed by the
younger crowd. But the higher levels do provide a challenge even for more
adult players. (There are 15 screens in all...)
Playing KID_GP:
The object of KID_GP is to collect all the diamonds found on each screen.
That's all you have to do to advance to the next screen. In the mean time
various characters will either try to chase you or just get in your way.
To make things a little more interesting there is a hammer on each level
which you can grab and clobber them down to size. There's also special
mushrooms that you can collect to either speed you up or make you
invisable for a while. (This allows you to go through the other characters)
There is a timer at the bottom of the screen. If you clear a screen before
the timer runs out you can grab at tasty treats for bonus points until the
timer runs out. (This is the key to high scores!)
KID_GP is joystick controlled. Here are the various joystick commands.
Left - Move KID_GP to the left.
Right - Move KID_GP to the right.
Up - A small jump up.
Joystick button - A BIG jump up.
Moving the joystick diagonally allows you to jump/move at the same time.
Keyboard commands:
F1/F2/F3 - Game speeds. F1=slow F3=fast
F9 - Switch to 50HZ video.
F10 - Switch to 60HZ video.
<ESC> - Exit the game.
Enjoy!!!
