CLOD HOPPER
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
(reasons to be cheerful part 4)
KEYS:
Title screens:
press trigger or space to start a game
Game:
joystick control.
SPACEBAR: pause, resume.
ESC: quit back to title screens.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The object is to help Bill find his
girlfiend, Sonia, who has wandered
into the old plutonium mine.
Bill must search the ten sections of
the old mine.
To complete a screen he must fill in
every segment of the floor. He is
able to do this simply by walking over
it, where it will be filled in,
filling in all segments is your aim.
*-*-*-*-*-*
There are a couple of snags to doing
this (there would be wouldn't there?)
Firstly the old closed up sections of
the mine contain only enough oxygen
to sustain Bill for a few minutes,
if your time is below 10 seconds you
will hear a warning hooter, then you
must hastily complete the screen, or
die in the attempt!
Secondly, the old mine has become
infested with mutant creatures
affected no doubt by the radiation.
Contact with these creatures is fatal
to Bill, unless he first picks up a
bonus which temporarily renders the
creatures harmless and enables Bill
to kill them.
(the children asked him if to kill
was not a sin.)
However, it isn't necessary to kill
the mutants in order to finish a
level.
*-*-*-*-*-*
On his adventure, Bill encountered old
items of machinery, some still funct-
-ional.
He didn't know how he would have man-
-aged otherwise.
Old matter transporters were still ope
-rating, he made sure there were no
flies around while using them!
He operated these teleporters just by
standing in the doorway and moving
the joystick up.
When teleporting he had visions like
fireflies in a windstorm, he heard
strange sounds, like distant flutes
playing a last fugue,to a lost Oberst.
Other pieces of machinary were obvious
in use and needed no explanation.
On and on he progressed, always search-
-ing. Through the caves of ice. Meeting
Kubla Khan. Into Xanadu.
He became the last Immortal Man.
*-*-*-*-*-*
At the bottom of the game-screen three
things are displayed: On the left is
shown your current score, middle is
shown your remaining oxygen time.
Rightmost are shown your lives, an
extra life is awarded around level 5.
Finally, but very important none the
less, your score and the level you
reached will be recorded for poster-
ity. You are able to type in a 7
letter message from the keyboard.
The high scores will be saved to disk
on SECTOR 6 of DRIVE A, FIRST TRACK,
(an otherwise unused sector)
unless the disk is write protected.
Because of this we advise you to boot
always from drive A, and leave the
GAMEDISK in the drive ALWAYS while
the game is running.
Scores are saved just prior to the
start of a new game, therefore, if
you want to quit the game, but want
your score saving to disk, start a
game before exiting.
Finally, if you have difficulty with
game loading, it may be due to lack
of memory on some ST's, there are 2
suggestions to try:
rename the game to either:-
miner3.tos or miner3.prg
Otherwise copy the game into an AUTO
folder and switch off the ST for a
few minutes before rebooting.
*-*-*-*-*-*
I hope you will enjoy this game and
rescue Sonia, this final scene may
be unsuitable for young children and
I advise you to use parental guidance
I may be writing a follow up game
with more levels and equipment, but
will not be releasing this, except to
those sending the registration fee
for this game, the charge is five
pounds, the address is shown in the
titles of the game.
I can fly, my friends!
