  5.   This is one of a series of archives of Falcon Image Utilities from
  6.   SKWare One. If you have not downloaded those others listed here, you
  7.   may find all (or most) of them useful and/or entertaining.

  10.   These utility programs will display only on Falcon030. They will
  11.   function on ST/STe/MegaSTe/TT030, but without any display:
  12.  
  13.   XGA__TGA.LZH      Programs to convert XGA to TGA format and TGA to XGA,
  14.                     XGA and TGA viewer programs. ST/TT converters included.
  15.   IFF2XIMG.LZH      Converts Amiga 32-color (5-plane) IFF to 256-color
  16.                     XIMG. ST/TT version is included; display only on Falcon.
  17.   SPEC2XGA.LZH      Converts Spectrum (.SPU and .SPC) files to XGA TrueColor.
  18.                     An ST/TT version is included; display only on Falcon.

  21.   These utility programs will run and/or display ONLY on Falcon030.

  24.   RWL2XIMG.LZH      Converts Seymor-Radix IMG_Scan raw data files to 256-color
  25.                     XIMG. Sample file included. Excellent image quality.
  26.   CS__DEMO.LZH      Falcon030 TrueColor demo of COLORSCAN II. Converts scanned
  27.                     IMG files to colors and greys.
  28.   CSCANIMG.LZH      Mono IMG file for conversion by CS__DEMO.
  29.   SURATXGA.LZH      Seurat TrueColor image in XGA format.

  32.   RUNS ON ALL ATARI 680x0 PLATFORMS:

  34.   BITCAMRA.LZH      Enlarges, reduces and reproportions monochrome, 4-color,
  35.                     16-color, 256-color, and TrueColor images with remarkable
  36.                     speed and accuracy. Loads GEM IMG, STTT IMG, XIMG, and
  37.                     XGA images. (This a demo version; save is disabled.) May
  38.                     be used as viewer for conversions from programs above;
  39.                     runs on everything Atari except 8-bits...

  47.   MONITORS: These programs have been developed for use on RGB monitors
  48.   when run on Falcon030. They have not been tested on VGA monitor systems
  49.   and certain ones of them will definitely not function with VGA.

  55.   RWL2XIMG.LZH:
  56.   
  57.   This program can be started in any Falcon resolution.  It switches
  58.   resolutions for program operations and return to the boot rez on
  59.   exit or in the case of error.  The program runs in a load-save loop;
  60.   exit by clicking "Cancel" on the load fileselect.  (Cancelling a 
  61.   save fileselect merely skips the user forward to another load.)
  62.   All conversions are displayed paused, with the program waiting for
  63.   a user keypress before proceeding with the save or the next load. 
  64.  
  65.   RWL2XIMG converts the raw data files created by the Seymor-Radix IMG_Scan
  66.   device (.RWL files only) to 256-color XIMG files. These data files are
  67.   64000 bytes in length and contain 0-255 (byte) grey values for the 64000
  68.   pixels of a 320x200 image. (A sample .RWL file is included.) A good RWL
  69.   file achieves pixels-to-pixel intensity variations of only 3-6 (out of
  70.   255), producing astonishingly smooth intensity contours; some RWL's of 
  71.   scanned photos are better than the originals!
  72.  
  73.   One problem with these scans is a periodic floating point error that
  74.   causes a set of 4-5 scan lines to be shifted left or right at regular
  75.   intervals down the image. To correct this, after the conversion is
  76.   complete, an outline cursor appears. Clicking on the left mousekey
  77.   will shift the scan line the cursor is positioned on to be shifted
  78.   one pixel to the left. Clicking on the right mousekey performs a right
  79.   shift. The shift is "loss-less", that is, the scanline is horizontally 
  80.   "wrapped" around the screen; edge pixels pushed off the screen appear
  81.   on the opposite screen margin. Press any key to continue to the save
  82.   when the image is corrected.

  84.   The 256-color XIMG's produced by RWL2XIMG can be viewed with the
  85.   BITCAMERA program (above). The XIMG converted from the sample RWL 
  86.   file in this archive can be found in BITCAMRA.LZH.
