HOW TO SET UP THIS UPGRADE
==========================
- Copy the files SEE_1134.TTP ,SEEINPUT.TTP, UPDATES.DOC, NOTICE.TXT
,SATHTALK.TXT, and THANKYOU.TXT into your SEE game folder.
- Change the line in your FDOORSx.DAT file to call SEE_1134.TTP instead
of your previous 11.xx version. (Or rename this new version to match
your FDOORSx file....I always name it SEE_1100.TTP)
NOTE: You still have to put LOCAL after it to play from the console!
- Next, edit your DAILY.BAT and add a line to it calling SEEINPUT.TTP
with the parameter DAILY. This will call the daily maintenance portion
of SEE v11.34. Please insure that this is done, otherwise, your players
will only be able to play one day...SEE NO LONGER PERFORMS MAINTENANCE
INTERNALLY!! This will also process out your Auto-Generated RECON file
to all nodes in your league, based upon your current GALAXY.DAT file.
(NOTE: This is the "Node 51" you'll notice it sending to.)
- Next, edit FMAINT.BAT to call SEEINPUT.TTP with the parameter INPUT
This will process in all incoming *.003 SAFs and send out any replies
to them. You may (optionally) call this from FMAILER.BAT, HOURLY.BAT,
etc. to process in any late mailer connections.
- The SATHTALK.TXT file contains 20 messages that are randomly displayed
to players only while the Satharian Empire is active. Note the file
format. You can edit and change the text of the messages, but do not
change the double exclamation markers at the begining, between messages,
or at the end of the file. These messages were placed in a separate
file so that you, the sysop, can alter them to suit yourself and your
local situation. Let your imagination run wild.
- The NOTICE.TXT file is an example notice file. This file is displayed
to players upon entry into the game (if it exists). You can use this
file any way you wish -- to announce alliances, attack plans, local
rules, etc. The program surrounds the text in this file with a bar
of asterisks both prior to and following the text.
Note that this is not like the old "Spacenet" versions of SEE, in that
it doesn't create "OUT.xx" files to be converted to SAFs for the mailer.
When a player enters the game and sends out attacks, soe missions, etc.,
SEE processes them into SAFs immediately, while they are still in the
game, the same as previous 11.xx versions. However, it does this much
faster than any previous version of SEE by eliminating doing this to
disk. It makes the SAF entirely in memory now, and writes it only when
it's finished with it. It does use OUTx.xx files, but those are used
(and deleted) while the player is still in the game. Gone are the TMP.xx
files SEE used previously.
