Mr Pointy v1.00 (released 9/9/94)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Program and related files are (c) 1994 BlobbySoft.
This is a little shell for network points. It works on all machines in all
screen modes. Keyboard shortcuts are available if you use Let 'Em Fly.
I recommend that you set up your ST-Med rez palette so that the third
colour is grey. Yes, grey! Use VDICOLORS.CPX to do this. If you prefer to
stick with yucky red but would like the colours to look right in Mr
Pointy, let me know and I'll add a little palette save/change/restore
system. This will be no trouble at all, the reason I haven't done it
already is because I think you should have colour 2 as grey ALL the time,
not just when you use this point shell! :]
Quick dox!

Shift-click on a button to configure that program. There are eight buttons
for pre-defined programs, and nine for user-defined utilities. In the
configuration screens, you can click on most text fields to bring up a
file selector.
If a program's extension is T?? then the program will be executed as a
TOS program, otherwise it will be executed as a GEM program.
To use the file request system you must specify the 'base folder' for
the outbound folders. On my system, all my outbound folders (eg:
TURBONET.064, NEST.05A, etc) are found in F:\POINT\, so I put in F:\POINT\
as my 'base' folder.
The file request generator is simple to use. You can click on the little
button to the side of the node address to load up an old file request from
disk.
Notes
¯¯¯¯¯
This program is BlobbyWare. You are free to use the program on the
condition that you will send BlobbySoft a netmail/email and say what
improvements you'd like to see in the program. If you can't think of any
changes you'd like, just say hello! If you like the program, tell me, and
if you don't like it, give me some reasons and maybe I can improve Mr
Pointy to match your requirements. :]
Thanks to Kevin Osborne and Robert Darling for pointing out that Mr Pointy
didn't work on an ST. It had to tried the program on my old STFM and found
about 4 problems, thankfully only was my fault, the others were due to
inconsistences between AES versions.

It's all very simple. In the main dialogue box, there are eight
pre-defined programs. To configure them, hold the shift key and click on
any of these eight buttons and you'll enter a new dialogue box which
allows you to set the program's path and filename, along with the
parameter that will be passed to it. You can click on either of the
textfields to use the file selector. The left/right arrows allow you to
move through the eight programs.
On the main screen there are also six buttons for user-defined utilities.
Again, you can configure these by shift-clicking on any of the six
buttons. You configure the utility programs in much the same way as you
configure the main programs. The difference is that the name of the
utility is editable. This name appears on that utility's button in the
main screen.
Known problems
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The file-request system is a bit dodgy! I might change it later.
If you can work out when it loads in an old request packet and when it
doesn't, you understand it better than I do! :]
Future improvements
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I hope to add a simple windowed-dialogue box system for the next
version... But don't get your hopes up, I may suffer from TLOEDTACOS
syndrome. (Total lack of enthusiasm due to a crap operating system :] )
