  3.     Welcome to the C/C++ Users Group CDROM, August 1997 edition!
  4.  
  5. This CDROM gives you the entire C/C++ Users Group Library through
  6. Volume 466  a collection of more than 300 megabytes of user 
  7. supported C/C++ source code.  Early volumes were written for
  8. CP/M, later volumes for DOS, and the most recent volumes support
  9. primarily Unix and Windows (see \htmldocs\platform.htm for
  10. specifics platform support by volume).
  11.  
  12. This edition includes an offline copy of the CUG website as well as
  13. a complimentary copy of the I-VIEW offline web browser.  I-VIEW is
  14. licensed exclusively for use with the CUG CDROM.  Of course, if you have
  15. a preferred web browser (such as Netscape) you can use this as well.
  16. The "home" document is D:\HTMLDOCS\INDEX.HTM, assuming 'D:'  is your
  17. cdrom drive.

  24. Quick Start Instructions:
  25.  
  26. Windows 3.1/NT/95
  27. -----------------

  29. Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  30. Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  31. This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  32.  
  33. Under Windows 95, inserting the cdrom into the cdrom drive will also
  34. automatically start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  35.  
  36. Important: the Windows install program no longer installs the MS-DOS
  37. viewer as a Windows icon.  This was done to reduce the number of
  38. viewers (would be 3 including I-VIEW) and Windows users have no
  39. need for the MS-DOS viewer anyways.  If you want to run the MS-DOS
  40. viewer under windows, please read the instructions below.  Thanks.

  45. Change to your CDROM drive and type "view".  For example:

  52. Manual Installation of Offline Web Browser

  54. The D:\SETUP.EXE program should do the installation for you, however
  55. in the event of failure, here's how to do it yourself.

  57. * Use the supplied I-VIEW offline HTML browser to read our catalog
  58.   with detailed descriptions.
  59.  
  60.   Windows:  Go to "Program Manager" and choose "File|Run",
  61.     set the command line to D:\VIEWHTML\I-VIEW D:\HTMLDOCS\INDEX.HTM
  62.     and hit OK, assuming that 'D:' is your cdrom drive.

  64. * Alternately, you may use your Netscape or other HTML browser
  65.     choose "File|Open" or similar option and choose the file

  72. We have included 00_index.htm and 00_index.unx files so the user may
  73. use a Web browser to view our disc.

  75. For people using Windows, please point your browsers to the root level
  76. 00_index.htm file.

  78. For people using Unix, please point your browsers to the root level
  79. 00_index.unx file.

  81. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm/unx files, point
  82. your Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm/unx file.

  99. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 3.0 (Windows,
  100. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), and Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows).

  104. WINZIP on board!
  105.  
  106. Nico Mac Computing, Inc. has supplied the award-winning WinZip
  107. unzipper for use with Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT.
  108. You'll need this utility to unpack "tarred and gzipped" files
  109. which are designated with the extension ".TZ" or ".GZ" on the disc.
  110. WinZip will automatically recognize these and know how to
  111. open them.  It will also handle "tarred" files which are designated
  112. with the extension ".TAR" on the disc.
  113.  
  114. To install Winzip, run the following program and it will autodetect
  115. and install the correct version for your Windows OS level.
  116.
