  1. The Music Tutor - version 1.5 by Carner Enterprises.

  4. About the Music Tutor....
  5.  
  6. The Music Tutor is a windows program designed to present important 
  7. fundamentals of music theory.  Learning the lines and spaces of the
  8. grand staff, the sharp key signatures, the flat key signatures and an 
  9. overview of minor scales are presented in four lessons in the Pitch and
  10. Key Signatures Edition.  An overview of the rhythmic value of notes and
  11. the time signatures is presented in two lessons in the Notes and Time
  12. Edition of the Music Tutor.  Each lesson has instructions and periodic
  13. questions about the ideas being discussed.

  15. Each lesson is accompanied by a practice session.  These 'practice 
  16. sessions' may be used at any time like computer flash cards.  If you are
  17. a beginning music student, you may find the practice sessions useful in
  18. reviewing for your lessons.  They should also be helpful in memorizing 
  19. basics needed by all musicians such as recognizing key signatures.

  21. Who is the Music Tutor for....
  22.  
  23. The Music Tutor is suited for adults or children with the assistance of
  24. an adult who are in the early phases of musical training.  The Music Tutor 
  25. may be used by anyone wishing to review their musical skills, however,
  26. allowing for differences in pace, anyone in the first year of lessons would 
  27. probably benefit from the material presented.

  29. The unregistered version of the Music Tutor offers the introduction and
  30. the first lesson and practice session of the Pitches and Key Signatures
  31. edition without charge.  You may freely distribute the unregistered version.
  32.  
  33. If you wish to register the Music Tutor to receive both the Pitches and Key
  34. Signatures and Notes and Time editions, instructions and a registration
  35. form are provided under the Help Menu.  
  36.  
  37. Technical Notes...
  38.  
  39. The Music Tutor should be run in VGA mode.  Modes above 640 by 480 may make
  40. image controls on the screen used for drag and drop operations inaccurate.
  41. Windows 95 does prevent this problem on the machines that I have
  42. tested the program on, but please be aware of the potential for
  43. the inaccuracies at higher resolutions for the first lesson.  
  44.  
  45. You must have the Visual Basic runtime DLL - VBRUN300.DLL on
  46. your machine to run the Music Tutor.  It has not been included in this
  47. zip file because it is genrally available on any bulletin board or
  48. on-line service. THREED.VBX has been included in the zip file.  
  49. Place VBRUN300.DLL and THREED.VBX in your windows/system directory.  
  50.  
  51. Copy all the other files into a subdirectory that you create - for
  52. example: C:\MTUTOR.
  53.  
  54. You may simply run the mtutor.exe or create
  55. a program item in program manager for the Music Tutor.
