  7. Welcome to KeyNote Music Drills! This program was written to allow the
  8. beginning music student to drill note identification on the basic music clefs
  9. including treble clef, bass clef, and the grand staff. There are additional
  10. drills for the alto and tenor clefs. Also, practice key identification and note
  11. location on the keyboard, and fret identification and note location on the
  12. guitar fingerboard. Some of the features of Keynote Music Drills include:

  14. ò Drills for the treble clef, bass clef, alto clef, tenor clef, and grand staff
  15. ò Keyboard drills encompasing 4 octaves
  16. ò Guitar fingerboard drills up to the 12th fret
  17. ò Variable timer settings for drills, individual drill items
  18. ò Customizable pause amount to review incorrect selections
  19. ò Customizable time limit for each drill item to simulate flash cards
  20. ò Visual feedback via progress bar for elapsed time
  21. ò Immediate feedback for correct and incorrect selections
  22. ò Sound support for playback of pitches in all drills
  23. ò Support for both waveform and MIDI audio output
  24. ò Online help via WindowsÖ compatible help file
  25. ò Other user options for drills, timer, and workspace

  27. A 32-Bit version of Keynote Music Drills for Windows 95Ö and Windows NTÖ 3.51
  28. is also available.

  30. KeyNote Music Drills is Shareware and may be freely distributed as no fee is
  31. charged and all files are shipped intact and together. You may use and evaluate
  32. KeyNote for a 15 day free trial period. The software will, however, continue to
  33. function after 15 days. If you decide to register your copy of KeyNote, you
  34. will receive:

  36. 1. A serial number that will unlock the sound playback feature and disable the
  37. registration reminders. This registration number will be valid for all future
  38. versions of KeyNote, both 16 and 32 bit versions.

  40. 2. Free upgrades. Simply download the new shareware version from CompuServe and
  41. use your registration number to convert it to a registered version. Your name
  42. and company will appear in the about box after you enter your name and
  43. registration number.

  45. 3. Notification by e-mail when future versions of KeyNote become available.

  47. 4. Free support for KeyNote directly from the author via e-mail.

  50. TO INSTALL:

  53. 1. Select an existing directory or create a new directory named KEYNOTE.
  54.  
  55. 2. Extract the files in KEYNOTE.ZIP into the selected directory.
  56.  
  57. 3. Copy the CTL3DV2.DLL into your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory
  58.    >>> IMPORTANT: Delete CTL3DV2.DLL from the KeyNote directory. <<<

  60. 4. Create a new Program Item in the group of your choice:

  62.    a) from the Program Manager with File/New/Program Item 
  63.       >>> OR <<<
  64.    b) using File Manager just drag and drop KEYNOTE.EXE from 
  65.       its subdirectory onto the group of your choice.

  68. UPGRADE NOTES:

  70. If you are upgrading from a previous version of KeyNote, the following steps
  71. will assist you in attaining a successful installation:

  73. 1. For 16-Bit versions only: Compare your version of CTL3DV2.DLL in 
  74.    your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory to the one that came with KeyNote 
  75.    and be sure that you are using the most recent version.
  76.  
  77. 2. Due to the many changes and improvements made to KeyNote, it may
  78.    help to delete the KEYNOTE.INI file from your WINDOWS directory and
  79.    reconfigure KeyNote options to accommodate for newer/improved options.
  80.    Registered users will need to re-enter their registration number.
