  1. D-10 CONTROL for Windows 1.0a

  5. D-10 Control for Windows is a patch editor for the Roland D-10 and 
  6. compatible synthesizers.  It gives you full control over both the multi-
  7. timbral and performance modes.  You can edit and select tones, timbres, 
  8. patches, and system parameters easily...even load tones straight from 
  9. files.  You can load or save synth data in MIDI file or MIDIEX format 
  10. for use with your other MIDI applications.  With the virtual keyboard 
  11. you can modify and test sounds without touching the synthesizer.  D-10 
  12. Control makes your PC an extension of your synth, overcoming the 
  13. limitations of the D-10's user interface.

  15. Requires: Roland D-10 or compatible synthesizer (D-5, D-20), Windows 3.1 
  16. or later, MIDI interface, VGA or better video, and mouse.

  18. NOTE: This application will work with a D-110 also, but since the D-110 
  19. is not 100% compatible with the D-10, some features may not work.

  28. This version is for evaluation.  Certain features have been disabled.  
  29. By registering the copy, all features will be accessible.  To register, 
  30. send a completed order form (see ORDERFRM.WRI) and payment to Midieval 
  31. Software.  A registration key will then be sent to you which will unlock 
  32. all of the features.  The evaluation version has the following 
  33. limitations:
  34. - Registration messages appear
  35. - Only Part 1 can be edited
  36. - Data cannot be saved to disk or to the synthesizer
  37.  
  38. The benefits of registration are:  access to all features, technical 
  39. support, and helping Midieval Software develop more high quality 
  40. software at reasonable prices.

  45. D-10 Control is subject to the following license.  By running D-10 
  46. Control for Windows 1.0, you accept these terms:

  48. D-10 Control is distributed as shareware and you are granted a license 
  49. to use this software for 30 days for evaluation purposes.  After this 
  50. period has expired, and you decide to continue using it, you must 
  51. register the copy by mailing the accompanying order form and payment 
  52. (see ORDERFRM.WRI) to Midieval Software.

  54. This Software is copyrighted by Midieval Software.  You may not 
  55. decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, revise, enhance, or modify the 
  56. Software.  Midieval Software retains title and ownership of the 
  57. Software.

  59. The unregistered evaluation package may be given to others to try out 
  60. only if the package has none of its files modified, removed and no extra 
  61. files added.  This package must be given whole and unaltered.

  64. same registered copy (as defined by its unique registration key) may 
  65. only be used on one computer at the same time.

  96. INSTALLING & RUNNING
  97. ======================================================================
  98. Select File | Run from the Program Manager then enter the path and 
  99. INSTALL.  This will start the installation program.  Follow the steps 
  100. and a Program Manager group will be created.
  101.  
  102. * If you had problems configuring D-10 Control 1.0 and are installing 
  103. over D-10 Control version 1.0, delete D10CTLW.INI from your Windows 
  104. directory before running 1.0a.
  105.  
  106. To start D-10 Control, double click the D-10 Control icon.
  107.  
  108. If the copy has not been registered, a registration message will appear.  
  109. The Start and Exit buttons will enable themselves after 30 seconds.
  110.  
  111. If there is no setup information, the Setup dialog will appear.  Select 
  112. the appropriate MIDI In and MIDI out devices for your system.  Do not 
  113. change the other parameters if you are not sure.

  115. There is extensive on-line help available.  Press F1 or select an item 
  116. from the Help menu from any of the windows or dialogs.

  119. TROUBLESHOOTING
  120. ======================================================================
  121. Depending on your MIDI driver, D-10 Control might not be able to work 
  122. while other applications that use the MIDI device are running.
  123.  
  124. Ensure that your MIDI drivers are properly configured.
  125.  
  126. If the MIDI setting needs to be changed, edit the D10CTLW.INI file 
  127. (found in the Windows directory) and set:
  128. SysExChannel=0
  129.  
  130. This will tell D-10 Control to bring up the Setup Window the next time 
  131. D-10 Control is run.
