  9. MyCDplayer (version 2.0.0 and above) has the ability to import title, artist 
  10. and track information from a Master Library on the Internet.  This database 
  11. was created for use with the Unix xmcd CD player package by Ti Kan 
  12. (ti@amb.org). If you would like more information on this data base, point

  17. The major requirement for importing from this Master Library is a Winsock 
  18. connection to the Internet.  You MUST be connected to the Internet before 
  19. attempting to import any data.  The import feature works from both Win3.x 
  20. and Win95 systems.
  21.  
  22. To enable the import feature, go to "Options" from the "File" menu of the 
  23. main MyCDplayer menu and set "Check Internet Library".  When you insert a CD 
  24. into MyCDplayer, the program will first check your local library, then the 
  25. Win95 library (if one is on your system) and then enable you to check the 
  26. Master library.  The library system is available from a number of sites 
  27. around the world - select the one nearest you from the menu.

  29. There are over 24,000 CDs in the library - new ones are being added daily.  We 
  30. have run some tests on the library and found it to be well worth while.

  32. Once data has been imported from the library, you may wish to perform some 
  33. maintenance, such as reversing the Artist's name and categorizing CDs with
  34. MyCDplayers categories.  The Master Library categorizes all CDs, but only
  35. some of them match the many more MyCDplayer categories - if they match, they
  36. will be entered into the MyCDplayer categories.  The Master Library has a
  37. large "Misc" category - we import them as category "None".

  39. We could optionally make the Master Library available locally on the user's 
  40. system.  However, this would require the user to download a 5+Meg file from 
  41. the Internet which would occupy 15+Meg on the user's disk.  We will consider 
  42. it if enough people request it.

  63. We ask that you only submit CDs that have Title, Artist and all Track Title information keyed in.
  64. Your extra effort to submit your CDs to the library is very much appreciated.

  66. Currently, submissions to the library have to be done via email, one CD at the time.  
  67. We have therefore implemented a scheme that lets you make all submissions offline to a file.
  68. You should then attach this file (submit.txt) to an email message to us (wjohn@fix.net).

  70. To enter CDs to the submit file, insert the CD to be submitted and press "Load CD".
  71. Next select "Submit to Library" from the file menu of MyCDplayer.
  72. Repeat above for all CDs you wish to submit.
