<html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-au"> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <title>Foods</title> <base target="_self"> </head> <body bgcolor="#0000D5"> <div align="center"> <center> <table border="1" cellspacing="0" id="AutoNumber1" width="800" cellpadding="10" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" bordercolor="#000080" bordercolorlight="#000053" bordercolordark="#0000CA" style="border-collapse: collapse"> <tr> <td dir="ltr" bgcolor="#000080"> <p align="center"><font size="4" color="#FFFFFF"><b>FOODS/INGREDIENTS</b></font></td> </tr> <tr> <td dir="ltr"><b><font size="4"><a name="Display by FG"></a>Display by Food Group:</font></b><p> <img border="0" src="images/fg-navigator.jpg" align="left" hspace="10" width="162" height="153"></p> <p>Double Click (Expend) on the <b>"Food Groups"</b> Item in the <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a>, you will be provided with a list of all the food groups available (except New Food Group and Edit Food Groups, which are Action Items to manipulate the food groups).</p> <p>Click on any of the <b>"food group" </b> items from the <b>"Food Groups"</b> List and the <a href="introduction.htm#Display Area">Display Area</a> would be updated to display food items that belong to this group only.</p> <p> </p> <hr noshade color="#000000" size="1"> <p> </p> <p><img border="0" src="images/fd-dialog.jpg" align="right" width="242" height="373"></p> <p><b><font size="4"><a name="Edit FG"></a>Add/Edit/Delete Group:</font></b></p> <ul> <li>Click on <b>"Edit Food Groups"</b> action item from the <b>"Food Groups"</b> List and you would be provided with the following dialog (see image on the right) containing all the food groups available and 3 buttons (from top to bottom ) add, delete and edit to add , delete and edit a food groups respectively.<ul> <li>To Add a Food Group, simply click the add button, then you would be ask to enter the "New Group Name". Once that has done you can press the OK button to close the dialog and it will save the group for you (Cancel will ignore any change)</li> <li>Similarly to Edit a Food Group, first select the desired Food Group and then you would be ask to modify the group. Once that has done you can press OK button to close the dialog and it will save the group changes for you.</li> <li>To delete a Food Group simply select a Food Group from the list, then press the delete button, you would be prompt to confirm, press yes, and the Group would be deleted, press OK to close the dialog and save changes.</li> </ul> </li> <li>A Quick way to add a new group, is simply by clicking on <b>New Food Group</b> action item from the Food Groups List in the <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a>, and it will ask you to enter the "New Group Name".</li> </ul> <p> <hr noshade color="#000000" size="1"> <p><b><font size="4"><a name="Display All Foods"></a>Display All Food:</font></b><p>Simply in the Food <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a>, Select <b>"View All Foods" </b> and the <a href="introduction.htm#Display Area"> Display Area</a> would be updated to display all food items available in the database.<p> </p> <hr noshade color="#000000" size="1"> <p align="left"><b><font size="4"> <a name="Simple Search"></a>Simply Search:</font></b><p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/fss-navigator.jpg" align="left" hspace="10" width="130" height="78">From the Food <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a>, Double Click on <b>Simple Search </b>and Expand it, You would be provided with two Action Items, <b>New Search</b> and <b>Clear Search History</b> then followed with the most recent keyword search done (latest is displayed first).<p align="left"> <p align="left">Click on <b>New Search</b> to apply a new search, you would be prompt to enter a keyword, then the <a href="introduction.htm#Display Area">Display Area</a> would be updated to display food items that only has this Search String entered anywhere in the Food Name. Note, This search is case insensitive, and only can be applied for one keyword.. if you need to do search on more then one keyword... see <a href="#Advanced Search">Advanced Search</a> Bellow:<p align="left">Once you done a new search, it will be display in the history list bellow the Action Items, last search show first (as you see in the image above , flour was search last), you can quickly search again by these keywords, simply by clicking on them. (History list can remember only the last 12 searches done). You also can clear the History list by clicking on <b>Clear Search History</b>.<p align="left"> </p> <hr noshade color="#000000" size="1"> <p align="left"><b><font size="4"> <a name="Advanced Search"></a>Advanced Search:</font></b><p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/fas-navigator.jpg" align="left" hspace="10" width="138" height="68">From the Food <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a>, Double Click on <b>Advanced Search </b>and Expand it, You would be provided with to Action Items, <b>New Search</b> and <b>Edit Advanced Search</b> then followed with your saved list of any advance search. You see Advanced Search has few step to perform, so any search defined has to be saved before using it. so, the items in the list after the Action Items are the saved Advanced Search.<p align="left">To Create a <b>New Advanced Search</b>, simply click on the New Search and you would be provided with the following Dialog:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/fas-edit.jpg" hspace="4" align="left" width="503" height="406">First Give your Search a meaningful name, which will be saved under and will be displayed in the Food <a href="introduction.htm#Navigator">Navigator</a> under the <b>Advanced Search.</b><p align="left">Then think of your search criteria, you have 3 choices and can repeat each one as many times as you like. In the image on the right side, you see we searching for "Low Fat Chocolate" and the Conditions Are: FoodName contains chocolate, we restricted it to sweets group so, we can narrowed down our search and we only wanted the low fat chocolate, so we set the nutrient to (fat < 2, Since data are store in 100g and fat are in g then 2 is actually 2%).<p align="left"> Now, these conditions are visible on the right side list and have been entered as follow:<p align="left">First, Select from "Condition Selection" the "by Keyword in FoodName" and you would be prompt to enter a keyword search, type in chocolate and then press the Add button (button with the green plus sign).<p align="left">Second, Select "By Food Group" and you would be prompt with a list of all the food groups available, choose "sweets" and add it too.<p align="left">Third, Select "By Nutrient and its Value..." and you would be given a list of all nutrients, select one, then select relation condition (e.g. < = > <= ..etc) and add it as well.<p align="left"> Finally, you can add more conditions if you want, let say we actually wanted Low Fat Chocolate Syrups, you would do exactly as above, then click again on "by Keyword in Food Name" and enter Syrups" and now the FoodName Condition would contains 2 keywords, Chocolate and Syrups, so it will only pick food that contains both these keywords anywhere in the food name and meets the other criteria set.<p align="left"> To Modify or delete already saved Advanced Search, Simply click on the <b> Edit Advanced Search</b> Action Item and you would be presented with a dialog that has add/delete and edit button, and you can add, just like in the above example as it will present you with the same dialog, edit also will present you with the same dialog with the capability to edit the information and delete would ask you for confirmation to delete the Selection Saved Advanced Search.<p align="left"> </p> <hr><p align="left"> <font size="4"><b><a name="Edit Food"></a>Add/Edit/Delete Food:</b></font><p align="left"> You can Add/Edit or Delete a Food Items by clicking on the Add, Edit or Delete Button from the <a href="introduction.htm#ToolBar">ToolBar</a> (make sure the food page is active).<p align="left"> Add and Edit are the same steps, as follow:<p align="left"> once you click on add or Edit you would be provided with following dialog:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/f-dialog1.jpg" align="left" hspace="4" width="487" height="340"><p align="left"> <p align="left">This Dialog has 4pages:<p align="left"><b>Overview Page:</b> Gives you a summary of the step and what to do.<p align="left"> <b>Food Name and Group Page:</b> where you would enter the name of the food and select a food group.<p align="left"><b>Nutrient Values Page:</b> Add the nutrient and their values for this food.<p align="left"><b>Useful Measures:</b> Add measures (e.g. Cup) and set their weight in grams. They would be useful measures for ingredients to calculate recipes nutrients' value<p align="left">To Navigate between these Pages, simply click on the page name from the left menu<p align="left"> <p align="left">Click on the <b>Food Name and Group Page</b> and you would be provided with the following page:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/f-dialog2.jpg" align="left" hspace="4" width="487" height="340">Enter the Food Name and select the Food Group for this item.<p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> then click on the <b>Nutrient Values Page </b>and you would be provided with the following page:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/f-dialog3.jpg" align="left" hspace="4" width="487" height="340"><p align="left"> in this Page you can enter the values for any of nutrient supported by the software,<p align="left">simply click on the list in the left (either in My Nutrient or All Nutrient, remember the difference is, All Nutrient=All Nutrients supported by the software and My Nutrient= your favourite that can be customized in the preference dialog).<p align="left">then press Add button (or you simply can double click on the nutrient from left), you would be prompt to enter the value for that nutrient and it will be added to the list on the right.<p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> Once finished from Add/Editing Nutrients, then click on the Useful Measures Page and you would be provided with the following page:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/f-dialog4.jpg" align="left" hspace="4" width="487" height="340"><p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> <p align="left"> To Add a new measure, simply click on the add button next to the list and you would be prompt with the following dialog:<p align="left"> <img border="0" src="images/f-measure-edit.jpg" hspace="20" align="middle" width="299" height="133"><p align="left"> Enter the Measurement Description, common used amount and its weight in gram (the example above show that 1 cup of this food item is equal to 125g.<p align="left"> Once all the Information has been updated for all the pages, then press the OK button and the new food item or changes you made, would be saved and this new or modified food can be used as an ingredient for a recipe.<p align="left"> To Delete a food Simply click on the Delete button from the <a href="introduction.htm#ToolBar">ToolBar</a>., you would be ask for conformation and if you confirm with yes.. the food would be delete with all it contents.<hr><p align="left"> </td> </tr> </table> </center> </div> <p> </p> <p> </p> </body> </html>
