- CANON LBP-4/LBP-8II/IIR/IIT/LBP-8 MARK III
- ==========================================
-
- Because the control codes for specifying paper sizes are different for
- portrait and landscape orientation, you may encounter problems when printing
- landscape reports on Legal, A4, or Executive paper. By default, R&R sends
- codes for selected paper sizes in portrait mode. If you wish to use these
- paper sizes in landscape mode, you need to place the following codes
- in the Letter, Legal, Executive, and A4 Tray Sequence fields using RRSETUP.
-
- Letter, Landscape: 27,91,"31p"
- (Letter, Portrait: 27,91,"30p")
- A4, Landscape: 27,91,"15p"
- (A4, Portrait: 27,91,"14p")
- Legal, Landscape: 27,91,"33p"
- (Legal, Portrait: 27,91,"32p")
- Executive, Landscape: 27,91,"41p"
- (Executive, Portrait: 27,91,"40p")

- EPSON LQ SERIES
- ===============
-
- R&R uses Quadruple Density Graphics mode to allow the greatest flexibility in
- positioning fields on your report. This may cause a slow, jerky movement of
- the printhead. Some Epson printers support an alternative method of
- horizontal position which you may prefer to use. This can be done by changing
- the Horizontal Position Sequence in RRSETUP from 27,"Z%r" to 27,"\%r". The
- Horizontal Position Resolution should be changed from 240 to 120 for draft
- mode, and from 240 to 180 for letter quality.

- HP LASERJET II/IIP/IID
- ======================
-
- Two new font information files are available in R&R Version 5 for the
- LaserJet II, IIP, and IID printers. These printers have a limited number of
- internal fonts: Courier 10 Pitch, Courier 12 Pitch (IIP and IID only), and
- Line Printer Compressed. These are the only fonts included in the font
- information files. If you have purchased soft fonts or a font cartridge for
- one of these printers, select the font information file that corresponds to
- your soft fonts or cartridge.
-
- SIMPLEX/DUPLEX PRINTING (IID ONLY)
- ----------------------------------
- Separate configurations are provided for Simplex and Duplex operation.
- The Duplex configuration is designed to support Long Edge Binding. If
- you wish to use Short Edge Binding, you must make the following change to
- the configuration file, using RRSETUP:
-
- Replace the 27,"&l1S" at the end of the Portrait Mode Sequence and Landscape
- Mode Sequence with 27,"&l2S". (Note: The "&" is followed by a lower case l.
- Do not use the number 1.)
-
- PAPER BIN SELECTION (IID ONLY)
- ------------------------------
- R&R uses the default paper bin in your printer unless you select a different
- bin using the "Paper Feed" option in /Print Options Control-Printing.
- The LaserJet configurations provided with R&R use the default bin as
- Continuous, the upper bin as Bin 1, and the lower bin as Bin 2. You may
- change these assignments by specifying the appropriate printer control codes
- in the Auxiliary Paper Bin sequences of your configuration file. Consult
- your printer documentation for the appropriate control codes.
-

- HP LaserJet III/IIIP/IIID/IIISi
- ===============================
-
- FONTS
- -----
- The LaserJet III series printers support Courier 10 and 12 Pitch, Line
- Printer Compressed, and two scalable internal fonts: CG Times and Univers.
- The LaserJet IIISi also has an internal Univers Condensed font. R&R supports
- these fonts as well as a variety of optional soft fonts which may be
- purchased for the LaserJet III series printers. In order to use any of the
- fonts labeled "Optional Soft Font", you must have purchased these fonts, and
- they must be available in your printer's memory, or you must use RRSETUP
- to modify the font information file so that R&R will download them for you.
- Please refer to the Font Information File Appendix in your R&R User's Guide
- for further instructions on downloading fonts from R&R.
-
- SIMPLEX/DUPLEX PRINTING (IIID/IIISi W/DUPLEX OPTION ONLY)
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- Separate configurations are provided for Simplex and Duplex operation.
- The Duplex configurations are designed to support Long Edge Binding. If
- you wish to use Short Edge Binding, you must make the following change to
- the configuration file, using RRSETUP:
-
- Replace the 27,"&l1S" at the end of the Portrait Mode Sequence and Landscape
- Mode Sequence with 27,"&l2S". (Note: The "&" is followed by a lower case l.
- Do not use the number 1.)
-
- Note that if you have a LaserJet IIISi without the optional Duplex accessory,
- you should select the HP LaserJet IIISi Standard configuration.
-
- PAPER BIN SELECTION (IIID/IIISi ONLY)
- -------------------------------------
- R&R uses the default paper bin in your printer unless you select a different
- bin using the "Paper Feed" option in /Print Options Control-Printing.
- The LaserJet configurations provided with R&R use the default bin as
- Continuous, the upper bin as Bin 1, and the lower bin as Bin 2. You may
- change these assignments by specifying the appropriate printer control codes
- in the Auxiliary Paper Bin sequences of your configuration file. Consult
- your printer documentation for the appropriate control codes.
-
- LANGUAGE SWITCHING (IIISi ONLY)
- -------------------------------
- For printers which have the optional PostScript support, R&R switches the
- printer into PCL mode at the beginning of the print job, then switches it
- back to the default language at the end of the print job.
-
- Note that software switching requires that you configure your printer for
- SYS SWITCH=ON*. Please consult your printer manual for instructions.
-
- If you wish to have R&R use the printer in PostScript mode, you should select
- the PostScript configuration in RRSETUP, and attach one of the PostScript
- font information files to your report. Refer to the "Using Fonts" chapter
- of your R&R User's Guide for further information on PostScript printing.

- PRINT MODES
- -----------
- Configurations are included for both Letter Quality and Draft mode.
-
- FONTS
- -----
-
- Two Font Information Files are available, and should be used with
- the IBM 2390/2391 Letter Quality configuration. Both Font Information Files
- are designed for use with Code Page 437, which is the printer's default code
- page for U.S. English.
-
- RR_IBM_1.FIF includes Courier, Prestige, Gothic, Presentor,
- Double High/Double Wide, Outline, and Shadow fonts.
- RR_IBM_2.FIF includes Courier, Script, Gothic, Orator,
- Double High/Double Wide, Superscript, and Subscript fonts.
-
- R&R supports all of the above typefaces in 7 pitch options, including
- proportional spacing.
-
-
- IBM LaserPrinter 4019
- =====================
-
- The font information file, RR_I4019.FIF, supports the internal fonts and a
- selection of fonts available on font cards from IBM. Fonts from IBM font
- cards include the IBM part number as part of the font name (i.e. P/N 1255803).
- In order to use any of these fonts, the font card must be installed in your
- printer. When there are multiple Code Pages available for a given font, R&R
- uses Code Page 437.
-
- Most font cards provide only a limited number of italic and bold italic fonts.
- When the italic attribute is not available for a given font, R&R substitutes
- normal for italic, and bold for bold italic.
-
-
- IBM LaserPrinter 4029 Series
- ============================
-
- The font information file, RR_I4029.FIF, supports the internal scalable
- fonts in a selection of point sizes. R&R uses Code Page 437 with the
- Courier fonts, and Code Page 850 with the Times New Roman, Helvetica, and
- Helvetica Narrow fonts.
-
- The 4019 font information file, RR_I4019.FIF, may also be used with 4029
- series printers. This font information file supports a selection of fonts
- available on font cards from IBM. In order to use any of these fonts, the
- appropriate font card must be installed in your printer.
-
-
- PANASONIC 4450/4450i
- ====================
-
- EMULATION MODES
- ---------------
- This printer supports six emulation modes; Panasonic LP, EPSON,
- Panasonic Standard, IBM, Panasonic IBM, and DIABLO. R&R configurations
- are available for the Panasonic LP and EPSON modes. R&R will put the
- printer into the specified mode before printing your report, and will leave
- the printer in that mode when the report is complete. If you wish to restore
- the printer to an emulation mode other than that used by R&R, you can do so
- by replacing the END OF REPORT SEQUENCE with one of the following codes:
-
- Panasonic LP: 27,27,"H"
- EPSON: 27,27,"E"
- Panasonic Standard: 27,27,"PS"
- IBM: 27,27,"I"
- Panasonic IBM: 27,27,"PI"
- DIABLO: 27,27,"D"
-
- FONTS
- -----
- R&R comes with three font information files for this printer.
-
- RR_PAN_1.FIF supports the printer's Courier and Century 702 resident fonts.
- It also supports font cartridges KX-P470, KX-P471, KX-P472, KX-P473, and
- KX-P474. Note that you must have the appropriate cartridge installed in your
- printer in order to use fonts with a cartridge number in brackets following
- the font name, e.g., Prestige ASCII 10 Pt. [KX-P472]. The printer must be in
- Panasonic LP mode when using this font file.
-
- RR_PAN_2.FIF supports the Courier and Century 702 internal fonts, and
- cartridges KX-P460 and KX-P461. The printer must be in Panasonic LP mode
- when using this font file.
-
- RR_PAN_E supports the double height, double width, superscript and subscript
- fonts in PICA, Elite, or Compressed print, available when the printer is in
- EPSON mode. It also supports the Century 702 10 point proportional font.
-
-
- PAPER BINS
- ----------
- R&R uses the default paper bin in your printer unless you select a different
- bin using the "Paper Feed" option in /Print Options Control-Printing.
- The Panasonic 4450/4450i configurations provided with R&R use the default bin
- as Continuous, the upper bin as Bin 1, and the lower bin as Bin 2. You may
- change these assignments by specifying the appropriate printer control codes
- in the Auxiliary Paper Bin sequences of your configuration file. Consult
- your printer documentation for the appropriate control codes.
