  58. Before you call the technical support group, please read this entire
  59. document for installlation and configuration information. 
  60.  
  61. If this document does not provide a solution and you need to contact
  62. technical support, for faster service, please have your computer running
  63. and have the following information ready for our technical support      
  64. personnel:
  65.  
  66. o   Make and model of your PC.
  67. o   Software version number.
  68. o   Names and version numbers of application software you are running.
  69. o   Contents of your \WINDOWS\DOSSTART.BAT, AUTOEXEC.BAT, and CONFIG.SYS
  70.     files (You can either print the files, or have access to an editor to
  71.     view them.)

  77. No installation errors have been reported. Please contact Product Support
  78. if you encounter a problem during installation.

  81. 2.1  Installing for Windows 95

  84. INITIAL INSTALLATION
  85.  
  86. If you are installing software on your PC for the first time follow these 
  87. steps:
  88.  
  89.  
  90. 1.   Power off your PC.
  91. 2.   Disconnect the power cord.
  92. 3.   Install the adapter card.
  93. 4.   Reconnect the power cord and start your PC.
  94. 5.   The NEW HARDWARE FOUND window appears with the option to select the
  95.      driver you want to install. Select "Driver from disk provided by 
  96.      hardware manufacturer" and click OK.
  97. 6.   The INSTALL FROM DISK window appears. Insert Disk #1 in your floppy
  98.      drive and click OK. (If the disk location is other than the default 
  99.      drive (A:\) change the designation before clicking OK.)
  100. 7.   Follow installation instructions. After the final disk is loaded,
  101.      Windows 95 displays screens enumerating the new hardware.
  102. 8.   Once the Windows 95 desk top is displayed, a secondary install will 
  103.      launch automatically creating a folder.
  104. 9.   Remove the diskette when prompted.
  105. 10.  The hardware is now installed and fuctional.

  108. INSTALLING AN UPGRADE / REMOVING A PREVIOUS VERSION
  109.  
  110. If you have a previous version of the software on your PC, want to upgrade/
  111. reinstall or remove it, follow these steps:
  112.  
  113. 1.   Place diskette #1 in your floppy drive.
  114. 2.   Click Start and RUN.
  115. 3.   Type a:\setup and OK.
  116. 4.   When the software has completed removing the existing version, you will
  117.      be prompted to either choose upgrade or to remove the adapter card from 
  118.      your system.

  120.      If you are removing the software from your system, the install will 
  121.      return you to the desk top and instruct you to power off and unplug 
  122.      your PC, at which time you can remove your adapter card.
  123.  
  124.      If this is an upgrade, then the install will reboot your machine, at 
  125.      which time you can continue the installation process at step #5 in the
  126.      Initial Installation (above). Follow the installation process to 
  127.      completion.

  129. NOTE:  Non-US users must run the Country Selection Application AFTER 
  130.        installation. Reboot ater running the Country Selection Applicatio.

  134. 2.2  Installing MIDI Samples for Windows 95
  135. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  137. To install MIDI Samples:
  138.  
  139. 1.   Insert disk 1 of the Advanced MIDI Samples in your floppy drive.
  140. 2.   Click Start.
  141. 3.   Click Run.
  142. 4.   Type a:\setup in the OPEN window.
  143. 5.   Click OK.
  144. 6.   Choose the path in which to install the samples. We recommend using 
  145.      the default path.
  146. 7.   Install the Advanced MIDI samples and allow the Windows synthesizer to
  147.      use this sample set when prompted.
  148. 8.   Do NOT reboot at this time.
  149. 9.   Insert Disk 1 of the EMU MIDI Samples.
  150. 10.  Click Start.
  151. 11.  Click Run.
  152. 12.  Type a:\setup in the OPEN window.
  153. 13.  Click OK.
  154. 14.  Choose the path in which to install the samples. We recommend using the
  155.      default path.
  156. 15.  Install the EMU MIDI Samples. Use this sample set for the DOS synthesizer
  157.      ONLY. Do NOT use this sample set for the Windows synthesizer.
  158. 16.  Reboot your machine when the installation completes.

  162. 2.3  Turning OFF and ON in DOS

  165. NOTE:  The following section applies when you shutdown or boot to
  166.  
  167.     -   Native DOS only from Windows 3.x
  168.     -   MS-DOS mode only from Windows 95
  169.  
  170. If you are running under DOS only, type the following command from
  171. the DOS prompt:
  172.  
  173. o  FASTCFG-To change application types
  174.  
  175.

  177. 2.4  Selective Uninstall in Windows 95
  178. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

  180. To use a different audio, modem, or Sound Blaster card than provided, 
  181. you must uninstall the features before installing the substitute card.  
  182. To uninstall the features, perform the following steps:
  183.  
  184. o   Click START
  185. o   Point to SETTINGS
  186. o   Click Control Panel
  187. o   Double-click System
  188. o   Click the Device Manager tab
  189. o   Click the "Plus" sign next to the device you want to uninstall
  190. o   Click on the device
  191. o   Click Properties
  192. o   Click on the check next to "Original Configuration (Current)" in the
  193.     Device Usage box. This disables the device.
  194. o   Click OK
  195. o   Click Close
  196. o   Reboot the system

  198. NOTE:  To reinstall the device, simply replace the check in the Device
  199. Usage box.
