  12. This XingMPEG Player installation automatically detects if you are
  13. running Windows 3.1x, Windows95, or WindowsNT and installs the 
  14. appropriate version of the XingMPEG Player (1.4 or 3.12 respectively).

  17. Preparing to Install the XingMPEG Player
  18.  
  19. Before installing the XingMPEG Player, make sure the following hardware
  20. and software is installed and working:
  21. - IBM PC 486/Pentium or compatible computer
  22.   (a Pentium with at least 8MB of RAM is recommended);
  23. - Microsoft Windows3.1x or Windows95;
  24. - a hard disk drive with at least 3MB of free space;
  25. - a CD-ROM drive is optional;
  26. - a sound card with a Windows wave audio driver is optional.

  28. Installing the XingMPEG Player

  30. 1 Turn on your computer and start Windows.
  31. 3 Open the Windows 3.1x Program Manager and choose the "Run" command
  32.   from the "File" menu--Under Windows 95, choose Run from the Start menu;
  33.   the "Run" dialog appears.
  34. 3 Type the path to the XingMPEG Player setup program (e.g., "D:\SETUP"
  35.   if you have an install disk in your PC's cd-rom drive "D"), and
  36.   click the "OK" button; the XingMPEG Player setup program starts.
  37. 4 Follow the setup program's on-screen instructions.
