  9. 0) What's New in this version
  10.  
  11.    This version has been enhanced from 2.12/2.13. Changes added are:
  12.  
  13.    a) Support OTHER CD drives which not listed in our installer's CD
  14.       drive list. OTHER IDE, Sony compatible and Panasonic compatible
  15.       are those which we are not aware of at the time software release
  16.       but actually could be interfaced with our sound cards. What
  17.       the software does, when OTHER is selected, is to setup the
  18.       CD-ROM interface of the sound card. The CD driver installation
  19.       then has to be taken care by you after the audio software 
  20.       installation is done.

  22.    b) Maintain Green PC feature after IRQ re-selection
  23.  
  24.    c) Reset FM MIDI device during INIT
  25.  
  26.    NOTE:
  27.    This version does not include third party Windows Application. 
  28.    Therefore, DISK #2 should be ignored. Copy contents under \disk1 
  29.    to a single diskette and start installation.

  31. 1) Introduction
  32.  
  33.    This package contains the above version of Software release for 
  34.    OPTi 82C929 Audio Device. This software contains a full fledge 
  35.    INSTALLER plus Testing and Configuration program all contained 
  36.    within a Windows Look-a-Like GUI.
  37.  
  38.    What the INSTALLER will do for you:
  39.    a) Gather installation info. from you as to which drive and directory
  40.       this software should be installed.
  41.    b) Check available memory and disk space (warns if not sufficient).
  42.    c) Gather and detect correct Windows directory.
  43.    d) Copies files to your hard disk.
  44.    e) Prompts you if you have a CD-ROM attached to your MAD16 Pro.
  45.       If Yes: - Asks you for the CD-ROM type you have.
  46.               - Assigns the correct CD-ROM driver for your drive.
  47.           - Checks and installs correct MSCDEX.EXE to work with your
  48.             drive depending on DOS version.
  49.    f) Shows Configuration and Test panel for you to setup and test your
  50.       Sound Card. You may perform 8-bit, 16-bit, and FM Synthesis test.
  51.       You may also change your volume settings.
  52.    g) After the above, INSTALLER will update your system files and give
  53.       you an option to reboot your system.

  55.    What the Testing and Configuration (SNDINIT.EXE) will do for you:
  56.    a) Allow you to test and/or configure/reconfigure your
  57.       - existing hardware settings;
  58.       - existing CD-ROM settings in which CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT will
  59.         be updated and you will be prompted to reboot your system.
  60.       - and perform sound tests and volume changes.

  95. 3) How to create Install Diskettes from 929V220D.ZIP
  96.  
  97.    . unZIP the 929V220D.ZIP file into a temp. dir in hard Drive
  98.        use: pkunzip -d 929V220D.zip to unzip
  99.    . take out README.1st and PKZIP.exe
  100.    . copy all the files in subdir 'DISK1' and 'DISK2' into 2 
  101.      diskettes to mark as "1 of 2" and " 2 of 2"
  102.    . use them as INSTALL diskettes
  103.  
  104.    To Run the INSTALLER

  106.    . insert the #1 diskette into a: or b: drive
  107.    . type a:\INSTALL or b:\INSTALL
