- Trouble Shooting
- ================

- 1. Unable to install or unable to run the software.
- System crashed after running the software.
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- A. Try DOS COMMAND CHKDSK with /F flag to check hard disk status.
- B. Unfragment your hard disk.
- C. You need 5MB of hard disk space to install this software.
- D. You need 4MB of system memory to run this software.
- E. Increase the windows's virtual memory size to at least 8MB.
- F. This software can only run under windows 386 enhanced mode.
- You can use win /3 command to force the windows to enter the 386
- enhanced mode.
- You need HIMEM.SYS file in your DOS CONFIG.SYS.
- G. Scan virus.
- H. Leave at least 540KB DOS memory before entering windows.
- I. Use SET TEMP=\TEMP command to set you temporary IO directory.
- J. If your system memory is less than 8MB, please do not use more than
- 512KB memory for drive cache (e.g. smartdrv.exe).
- K. Try DOS COMMAND MEM with /C flag to check your DOS memory usage.
- L. Please do not use any hard disk double space software, unless that
- double space software was certified by microsoft.
- M. Use latest version of MSCDEX.EXE.
- N. Recommended CONFIG.SYS & AUTOEXEC.BAT files:

- 2. No voice.
- Device driver was closed or unable to open device driver error.

- A. Did you install your sound card driver correctly?
- If you install your multimedia kit correctly, you will find the
- following drivers in your media player.

- SOUND

- Check your multimedia kit for installation software.

- B. Did you connect your CD Audio cable to your sound card correctly?
- C. Is your CD-ROM drive or sound card MPC compatible.
- D. Did your sound card conflict with other hardware devices.
- (Typically DMA Channel or Interrupt conflict).

- E. 8 bits sound card can not play 16 bits wave form.

- 3. Unable to see video in the software.

- A. Did you already install Video for Windows?
- You can type D:\RUNTIME\SETUP.EXE to install runtime version of Video for Windows.

- B. Not enough memory to run Video for Windows.

- 4. Music and voice was not continuous.

- A. Enlarge your MCI sound driver buffer to 9 seconds.
- You can find MCI sound driver in control panel item Drivers.
- B. Enlarge your MSCDEX.EXE /M flag to 16 or 20.
- C. Enlarge your windows forground ticks in control panel item 386 Enhanced.
- D. Get rid of screen saver software.

- 5. Video keeps skipping frames.

- A. Is you CD-ROM drive MPC compatible?
- B. Does your CD-ROM drive have transfer rate of more than 150KB/SECONDS.
- C. Enlarge your MSCDEX.EXE /M flag to 16.
- D. Update your display card driver to newest version.
- E. If you use a slow machine like 386SX, trying not to move the mouse
- will also increase the video performance.

- 6. Screen pictures will flicker (changing palettes).

- A. You need a display card which can show at least 256 colors.
- B. If you have Hi-color or True-color display cards, please set the display
- mode to 32,768 color mode.
- C. Some display cards (like Trident 8900) will cause flickering in 256
- color mode.
- D. Update your display card driver.

- 7. The picture are not in correct position.
