  25. 1.0 PRODUCT LICENSE AGREEMENT

  27. To register your McAfee product, please refer to the
  28. registration section in this file.

  30. NOTICE TO USERS: CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING LEGAL
  31. AGREEMENT. USE OF THE SOFTWARE PROVIDED WITH THIS AGREEMENT
  32. (THE "SOFTWARE") CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS.
  33. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROMPTLY
  34. REMOVE THE SOFTWARE TOGETHER WITH ALL COPIES FROM YOUR
  35. COMPUTER. USER'S USE OF THIS SOFTWARE IS CONDITIONED UPON
  36. COMPLIANCE BY USER WITH THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.

  38. 1.  LICENSE GRANT. McAfee Software, Inc. ("McAFEE") and its
  39.     suppliers grant to you a non-exclusive, non-transferable
  40.     two (2) year right to use the SOFTWARE on file servers
  41.     connected to a maximum number of user computers, or on a
  42.     maximum number of user computers, not exceeding the number
  43.     of user computers specified on the packaging for this
  44.     product. During the two (2) year period, registered users
  45.     under this option may download updates of the SOFTWARE as
  46.     they are published by McAfee from its bulletin board, web
  47.     page or its fora on online services such as Compuserve.
  48.     (If you received a grant letter from McAfee and it
  49.     designated a different term other than "two years" or the
  50.     like, then the term shall be that designated in the grant
  51.     letter.) This license to use the SOFTWARE is conditioned
  52.     upon your compliance with the terms of this agreement. 
  53.  
  54.     You agree you will only copy the SOFTWARE into any 
  55.     machine-readable or printed form as necessary to use
  56.     it in accordance with this license or for backup purposes
  57.     in support of your use of the SOFTWARE. This license is
  58.     effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any
  59.     point by destroying the SOFTWARE together with all copies
  60.     of the SOFTWARE. Also, McAFEE has the option to terminate
  61.     if you fail to comply with any term or condition of this
  62.     agreement. You agree upon such termination to destroy
  63.     the SOFTWARE together with all copies of the SOFTWARE.
  64.  
  65. 2.  COPYRIGHT. The SOFTWARE is protected by United States
  66.     copyright law and international treaty provisions. You
  67.     acknowledge that no title to the intellectual property
  68.     in the SOFTWARE is transferred to you. You further
  69.     acknowledge that title and full ownership rights to the
  70.     SOFTWARE will remain the exclusive property of McAFEE or
  71.     its suppliers, and you will not acquire any rights to
  72.     the SOFTWARE except as expressly set forth in this
  73.     license. You agree that any copies of the SOFTWARE
  74.     will contain the same proprietary notices that appear
  75.     on and in the SOFTWARE.
  76.  
  77. 3.  REVERSE ENGINEERING. You agree that you will not attempt
  78.     to reverse compile, modify, translate, or disassemble
  79.     the SOFTWARE in whole or in part.
  80.  
  81. 4.  LIMITED WARRANTY. McAFEE warrants that the SOFTWARE
  82.     will perform substantially in accordance with the
  83.     accompanying written materials for a period of thirty
  84.     (30) days from the date of purchase. Any implied
  85.     warranties relating to the SOFTWARE are limited to
  86.     thirty (30) days.
  87.  
  88. 5.  CUSTOMER REMEDIES. If the SOFTWARE does not conform
  89.     to the limited warranty in Section 4 above ("Limited
  90.     Warranty"), McAFEE's and its suppliers' entire liability
  91.     and your sole remedy shall be, at McAFEE's option, either
  92.     to (a) correct the error or (b) help you work around
  93.     or avoid the error. The Limited Warranty is void if
  94.     failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted from accident,
  95.     abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement SOFTWARE
  96.     will be warranted for the remainder of the original
  97.     Limited Warranty period.
  98.  
  99. 6.  NO OTHER WARRANTIES. McAFEE AND ITS SUPPLIERS DO NOT
  100.     WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE IS ERROR FREE. EXCEPT FOR
  101.     THE EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY IN SECTION 4 ("LIMITED
  102.     WARRANTY"), McAFEE AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL
  103.     OTHER WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE, EITHER
  104.     EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED
  105.     WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
  106.     PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS.

  108.     SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF
  109.     IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN
  110.     IMPLIED WARRANTY MAY LAST, OR THE EXCLUSION OR
  111.     LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,
  112.     SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY
  113.     TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS.
  114.     YOU ALSO MAY HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM
  115.     JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.

  117. 7.  SEVERABILITY. In the event of invalidity of any
  118.     provision of this license, the parties agree that
  119.     such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the
  120.     remaining portions of this license.

  122. 8.  NO LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT
  123.     SHALL McAFEE OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY
  124.     CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES
  125.     OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE DELIVERY, PERFORMANCE,
  126.     OR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF McAFEE HAS BEEN ADVISED
  127.     OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL
  128.     McAFEE'S LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM, WHETHER IN CONTRACT,
  129.     TORT, OR ANY OTHER THEORY OF LIABILITY, EXCEED THE
  130.     LICENSE FEE PAID BY YOU, IF ANY.

  132. 9.  GOVERNING LAW. This license will be governed by the
  133.     laws of the State of California as they are applied
  134.     to agreements between California residents entered
  135.     into and to be performed entirely within California.
  136.     The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the
  137.     International Sale of Goods is specifically disclaimed.
  138.  
  139. 10. ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This is the entire agreement between
  140.     you and McAFEE, which supersedes any prior agreement
  141.     or understanding, whether written or oral, relating
  142.     to the subject matter of this license.
  143.  
  144. REMOTE DESKTOP 32/REACHOUT  
  145. If the SOFTWARE is McAfee's Remote Desktop 32 software,
  146. then the following additional provisions apply to the
  147. License Grant relating to Remote Desktop 32: The media
  148. upon which the SOFTWARE is delivered to you contains 
  149. versions of Remote Desktop 32 that operate on different 
  150. hardware platforms. You may install any version of Remote 
  151. Desktop 32 on your user computers in any combination so 
  152. long as the total number of copies installed does not
  153. exceed the number of user computers licensed for the 
  154. SOFTWARE pursuant to the grant letter.  The media upon 
  155. which the SOFTWARE is delivered to you contains two 
  156. versions of Stac's ReachOut 5.0x software, the DOS/Win 
  157. Host and Viewer Network and Modem version and the DOS/Win 
  158. Host Network version. The Host and Viewer Version is for 
  159. use in administering your network may not be installed on 
  160. more than ten percent (10%) of the number of user computers 
  161. licensed for the SOFTWARE pursuant to the grant letter. The 
  162. Host Only Version is licensed for installation on the 
  163. remainder of the user computers licensed for the SOFTWARE 
  164. pursuant to the grant letter.
  165.  
  166. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
  167. If this product is acquired under the terms of a
  168. (i) Civilian Agency Contract: use, reproduction, or
  169. disclosure is subject to FAR 52.227-19(a) through (d)
  170. and restrictions set forth in the accompanying end-user
  171. agreement; and (ii) DoD Contract: use, duplication or
  172. disclosure by the Government is subject to the terms of
  173. this license unless superseded by 252.227-7013(c)(1)(ii).

  368. Before you install a McAfee product that you've downloaded 
  369. from an online service, you'll want to verify that the files 
  370. you downloaded are exactly the same as when we posted them 
  371. online. We recommend you perform this task for maximum 
  372. anti-virus protection. Read the following paragraphs to 
  373. learn how to validate your file.
  374.  
  375. Included in the files you downloaded is the Validate program
  376. (version 2.0.1). Validate is a file-authentication program 
  377. that you can use to check program files for signs of 
  378. tampering. Validate uses two methods of generating Cyclic 
  379. Redundancy Checks (CRCs), then displays the information so you 
  380. can compare these statistics against the "known value" for the 
  381. program files. The dual CRC checking provides a high degree 
  382. of security. The known value you use for validation is usually
  383. provided by the author of the program, or you may receive it
  384. from a trusted information database. You can find the statistics
  385. for this McAfee product in the file PACKING.LST.
  386.  
  387. To confirm that a program file has not been tampered with,
  388. run the Validate program and record the validation data
  389. produced. Compare this data against the file statistics
  390. the program author has specified. If the information matches,
  391. most likely the program has not been modified since the files
  392. were placed online.
  393.  
  394. To run Validate, enter the following command:

  396.     VALIDATE <pathspec>
  397.  
  398. where <pathspec> is the name of a directory and file. The
  399. wildcard characters * and ? can be used when specifying
  400. <pathspec>.

  406.      extension of file (starting at row 10)
  407.      size of file (starting at row 15)
  408.      date of file (starting at row 25)
