  17.    This package provides transparent support for the ViRGE 325 and ViRGE/VX
  18.    988 graphics controllers, as well as Asian language support for
  19.    Japanese, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean and Thai/English
  20.    editions of Windows 3.1.

  22. 2. Foreign Languages
  23.    -----------------
  24.    On-line hints are provided in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish,
  25.    Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Japanese, Dutch, Russian and Korean
  26.    for this release.

  28. 3. DCI and DirectDraw Support
  29.    --------------------------
  30.    Windows 3.1x DCI and Windows 95 DirectDraw 2.0 support are automatically
  31.    installed along with the VCP by the Setup program.
  32.  
  33. 4. Windows 95 QuickColor
  34.    ---------------------
  35.    This release incorporates our QuickColor code, which allows color
  36.    depth to be changed on-the-fly under Windows 95. Since these techniques
  37.    bypass the Win32 API and directly manipulate the GDI, we have taken a
  38.    rather cautious approach to exception handling: if a QuickColor change
  39.    fails, the display will default to 640x480 - a resolution supported
  40.    under all hardware configurations and by all monitors. You will
  41.    then have the option of restoring your original display settings.

  43. 5. Removing the Splash Screen
  44.    --------------------------
  45.    If you tire of the splash screen and/or sound, the unInstaller program
  46.    now gives you this option.
  47.  
  48. 6. Windows 95 Driver Compatibility
  49.    -------------------------------
  50.    The VCP has been tested and works transparently with Windows 95 drivers
  51.    from both the chip vendor and Microsoft, including the original drivers
  52.    shipped with Windows 95 as well as Microsoft's various updates included
  53.    with DirectX 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0B.

  55. 7. VCP Media Player and XingMPEG 3.0
  56.    ---------------------------------
  57.    The recent release of XingMPEG 3.0 has a floating-point bug which
  58.    makes it incompatible with the VCP's integrated media player. The
  59.    VCP's media player is, however, compatible with earlier releases of
  60.    XingMPEG, as well as Compcore, Mediamatics, Native-MPEG, CP3 and other
  61.    hardware-based MPEG decoders.

  63. 8. Windows NT 4.0
  64.    --------------
  65.    A ViRGE driver for Windows NT 4.0 is provided by Microsoft with the retail
  66.    release of NT 4.0. If NT is unable to correctly detect your accelerator,
  67.    select an "S3 Compatible" display type. The ViRGE/VX is not properly
  68.    supported by this driver.

  70.    A beta release of a new ViRGE-ViRGE/VX driver is currently in testing.
