- 1. Reinstallation of Windows 3.1
- -----------------------------
-
- If you want to reinstall Windows 3.1 over an existing Windows 3.1
- system with 3D Blaster PCI already installed, it is essential to
- run the Windows 3.1 Setup and change Display settings to VGA first
- (Follow the instructions in the manual to do this). After this,
- proceed to complete the new Windows 3.1 installation, followed by
- installation of the 3D Blaster PCI Win 3.1 driver.
-
-
- 2. VMODE.EXE
- ---------
-
- On power-up, the 3D Blaster PCI defaults to a class 1 monitor's (14"
- SVGA) refresh rates. This can be changed by using the utility VMODE.EXE.
-
- usage: VMODE <monitor's max hori freq>
-
- e.g. "VMODE 57" for class 9 monitor
-
- The refresh rates supported for each class of monitor at different
- resolution is listed below:
-
- * Refresh support table *

- 3. Miscellaneous Notes
- -------------------
-
- a. Windows Setup
-
- Problem: When attempting to change Display settings under
- [Windows Setup], the error message "Access denied.
- Unable to copy file." appears.
-
- Solution: Run Windows Setup from DOS to install the display driver.
- To do this follow the steps in the 3D Blaster PCI manual.
-
- b. CompCore SoftPEG player
-
- Problem: When using the CompCore SoftPEG player to view files with a
- *.DAT extension, the error message "undefined external error"
- occurs when the file is not in a format recognized by the
- player.
-
- Solution: Please be aware, files with the .DAT extension are not always
- MPEG files. Generally, MPEG files use the .MPG extension.
