  14. 1. Package contents
  15.  
  16.    This package contains the following software:

  18.      -  Audio drivers
  19.      -  DOS Mixer program
  20.      -  DOS Diagnostic program
  21.      -  Creative Mixer (Windows 3.1 version)
  22.      -  AWE Control Panel (Windows 3.1 version - for SBAWE card)

  25. 2. Installing the software
  26.  
  27.    To install the software:
  28.      1.  Exit to DOS if you are in Windows.
  29.      2.  Put the entire set of files in this package into a
  30.          sub-directory on your hard disk (or diskette).
  31.      3.  At the DOS prompt, change to the drive/directory where the
  32.          installation files are located.
  33.      4.  Type INSTALL, and press the ENTER key.
  34.      5.  Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the
  35.          installation.

  38. 3. If your audio card is a Plug and Play audio card
  39.  
  40.    If your audio card is a Plug and Play audio card, you need to
  41.    install a Plug and Play Configuration Manager before you proceed
  42.    with the software installation.

  44.     * If you do not have a Configuration Manager, please download the
  45.       Creative PnP Configuration Manager (CTCM) from the Creative Labs
  46.       FTP site or World Wide Web site.

  49. 4. Update existing software
  50.  
  51.    To update your existing audio software, install this package to
  52.    your existing audio software directory.  The installation program
  53.    will replace the existing files in the directory with the updated
  54.    versions, and the original versions will be copied to a BACKUP
  55.    directory.

  57.    If you specify your Windows 3.1 directory during the installation,
  58.    the installation program will backup the existing files in your
  59.    Windows directory to another extension (e.g. the file CSPMAN.DLL
  60.    will be renamed to CSPMAN.D~L), and replace them with the updated
  61.    files.

  64. 5. Full-Duplex Constraints
  65.  
  66.    To make full use of the full-duplex recording and playback feature,
  67.    please make sure you observe the following constraints:
  68.  
  69.    a. Start only one session of simultaneous playback and recording.
  70.    b. Use the same sampling rate for both operations.
  71.    c. Preferably play back and record audio files which are in 
  72.       uncompressed (that is, Pulse Code Modulation or PCM) wave format.
  73.    d. Reduce the sampling rate for both operations  if  your  audio 
  74.       playback and recording session is too slow.
  75.    e. Start your Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode.
  76.    f. Check that the version number of the CSPMAN.DLL file in your 
  77.       Windows SYSTEM directory is 3.51 or later.

  82.    To help you obtain information on the applications in this package 
  83.    easily, we have compiled a set of on-line documentation which can be 
  84.    accessed from your audio card's group window in Windows 3.1.  Just 
  85.    double-click on the icon(s) with names that start with the words 
  86.    "How to Use".
