  3. AFTER READING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION, WE RECOMMEND THE
  4. <KPT Custom Install> USING THE RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION 
  5. DIRECTORY c:\kpt .TO REFER BACK TO THESE NOTES, PLEASE READ 
  6. THE README.WRI FILE.

  8. Using KPT with Multiple Applications
  9.  
  10. If you will be using KPT with more than one program and wish
  11. the programs to share the same filters and presets, you can
  12. place the filters in one common directory and then alter
  13. each program's .INI file to reflect the location of the
  14. filters.
  15.  
  16. For specific information concerning your program, please 
  17. check the instructions below.
  18.  
  19. KPT for Windows Setup:
  20.  
  21. Fractal Design Painter Version 2.0
  22.  
  23. 1. Hold down the CTRL key when starting Painter.
  24. 2. A file selection dialog box will appear.
  25. 3. Select the path in which the KPT filters have been
  26.    installed.
  27. 4. Select a filter.
  28. 5. Choose OK.
  29.  
  30. Picture Publisher Version 4.0
  31.  
  32. KPT can be set up to work with Picture Publisher two
  33. different ways. We recommend using the setup from within
  34. Picture Publisher.
  35.  
  36. ( I ) To setup from within Picture Publisher.
  37.  
  38. 1. Run Picture Publisher.
  39. 2. Select Preferences under the Edit menu.
  40. 3. Highlight "Plug-ins" in the "Preference Group" dialog box.
  41. 4. You can now enter two plug-in directories to be used.
  42. 5. Make sure the Use Plug-ins box is highlighted, and click
  43.    on Save.
  44. 6. You must now exit Picture Publisher and re-start the
  45.    program for the new plug-in directories to take effect.
  46.  
  47. ( II ) Modify the Picture Publisher .INI.
  48.  
  49. 1. If Picture Publisher is running, close it before
  50.    proceeding.
  51. 2. Locate the file PP.INI in the Picture Publisher directory.
  52.    Open this file with a text editor such as Windows Notepad.
  53. 3. Add a line that points to the directory where the filters
  54.    are located. The line must begin with PLUGINPATH. You can
  55.    add up to two lines, but remember to increment the number
  56.    in each line. For example:
  57.  
  58.    PLUGINPATH1=c:\KPT
  59.    PLUGINPATH2=c:\[The plug-in directory you wish to add]
  60.  
  61. 4. Save the changes to PP.INI.
  62.  
  63. Aldus PhotoStyler Version 2.0
  64.  
  65. 1. If PhotoStyler is running, close it before proceeding.
  66. 2. Locate the file ULEAD.INI in the Windows directory. Open
  67.    this file with a text editor such as Windows Notepad.
  68. 3. Locate the heading [PLUG IN]. If this heading does not
  69.    exist, go to the end of the file and create it on a new
  70.    line.
  71. 4. After the heading, add a line that points to the
  72.    directory where the filters are located. The line
  73.    must begin with PLUGINDIR1=. You can add up to nine lines,
  74.    just remember to increment the number in each line. For
  75.    example:

  77.    [PLUG   IN]
  78.    PLUGINDIR1=c:\KPT
  79.    PLUGINDIR2=c:\ [The plug-in directory you wish to add]

  81. 5. Save the changes to ULEAD.INI.

  83. Photoshop Version. 2.5
  84.  
  85. KPT can be set up to work with Photoshop two different ways.
  86. We recommend using the first method.
  87.  
  88. ( I ) Install the KPT filters to the Photoshop plugins
  89.       directory. When the KPT installation routine
  90.       asks which directory you would like to install the
  91.       filters to, type \PHOTOSHP\PLUGINS
  92.  
  93. - OR -
  94.  
  95. ( II ) Modify the PHOTOSHP.INI to reflect a new plug-in
  96.        directory path.
  97.  
  98. NOTE: By modifying the PHOTOSHP.INI file, the plug-in
  99. filters installed when Photoshop was installed will no
  100. longer be accessible.

  102. To modify the PHOTOSHP.INI:
  103.  
  104. 1. Locate the file PHOTOSHP.INI in the Windows directory.
  105.    Open this file with a text editor such as Windows Notepad.
  106. 2. Modify the line that points to the directory where the
  107.    filters are located. The line must begin with 
  108.    PLUGINDIRECTORY=.  For example:

  110.    PLUGINDIRECTORY=c:\KPT
  111.  
  112. 3. Save the changes to PHOTOSHP.INI.

  114. Fauve Matisse
  115.  
  116. KPT can be set up to work with Fauve Matisse two different
  117. ways.
  118.  
  119. [For versions of Fauve Matisse prior to version 1.2.6.]
  120. ( I ) Install the KPT filters to the Fauve Matisse plugins
  121. directory. When the KPT installation routine asks which
  122. directory you would like to install the filters to, type
  123. \FAUVE\PLUG_IN
  124.  
  125. - OR -
  126.  
  127. [For Fauve Matisse version 1.2.6.]
  128. ( II ) Modify the FAUVE.INI to reflect a new plug-in
  129.        directory path.
  130.  
  131. NOTE: By modifying the FAUVE.INI file, the plug-in filters
  132. installed when Fauve was installed will no longer be
  133. accessible.

  135. To modify the FAUVE.INI:
  136.  
  137. 1. Locate the file FAUVE.INI in the Windows directory. Open
  138.    this file with a text editor such as Windows Notepad.
  139. 2. Modify the line that points to the directory where the
  140.    filters are located. The line must begin with
  141.    PLUGINDIRECTORY=. For example:
  142.  
  143.    PLUGINDIRECTORY=c:\KPT
  144.  
  145. 3. If the PLUGINDIRECTORY= line cannot be found, insert it
  146.    at the end of the [MATISSE] section in the FAUVE.INI file.
  147. 4. Save the changes to FAUVE.INI.
  148.  
  149. Corel Photo-Paint
  150.  
  151. KPT can be set up to work with Corel Photo-Paint three
  152. different ways. We recommend using the setup from within
  153. Photo-Paint.
  154.  
  155. ( I ) To Setup from within Photo-Paint.
  156.  
  157. 1. Run Photo-Paint.
  158. 2. Select Preferences under the Special menu.
  159. 3. Select Advanced.
  160. 4. Select Insert in the plug-in directories group.
  161. 5. Select the directory where your KPT plug-in filters are
  162.    located.
  163. 6. Click OK twice.
  164. 7. The plug-ins will be loaded at this point. There is no
  165.    need to restart Photo-Paint.

  167. ( II ) To modify the CORELPNT.INI:
  168.  
  169. 1. Locate the file CORELPNT.INI in the COREL50\CONFIG\
  170.    direcory. Open this file with a text editor such as
  171.    Windows Notepad.
  172. 2. Modify the line that points to the directory where the
  173.    filters are located, this will be  in the [PluginFilters]
  174.    section. The line must begin with Dirs=.  For example:
  175.  
  176.    Dirs=C:\COREL50\PLUGINS\; 
  177.    or
  178.    Dirs=C:\kpt;C:\COREL50\PLUGINS\;
  179.  
  180.    NOTE: Each directory path must be separated with a
  181.    semicolon.

  183. 3. Save the changes to CORELPNT.INI.
  184.  
  185. ( III ) Install the KPT filters to the Corel plugins
  186.         directory.
  187.  
  188. Altamira Composer
  189.  
  190. 1. In Composer, select Plug-ins in the "Tools" menu. This
  191.    will load the Altamira Plug-in Toolkit.
  192. 2. Select Options in the Plug-in menu of the toolkit.
  193. 3. Enter the directory where your KPT files can be found.
