  5. New Features
  6. ------------

  8. 1. The MP011RMT Panel will detect the CD format automatically while the 
  9.    CD title is put into the CD-ROM well. When CD-ROM door closes, click 
  10.    "Play" button directly. MP011RMT can detect CD-i, Video CD, Video CD 
  11.    2.0 automatically.
  12.  
  13. 2. When the program detects the Video CD 2.0, a Remote Control alike
  14.    panel will appear. Click the Play button on the MP011RMT Panel first.
  15.    Then, follow the instruction on the video program.
  16.  
  17. 3. Add the Key Mapping function that users can redefine the Hotkeys
  18.    themselves for easy to use and memory.
  19.  
  20. 4. There are Timer parameters for Windows 95 in "MPEG-I.INI" to control 
  21.    the MPEG bit-stream. The default settings are:
  22.       [AppPlayer]
  23.       TimerInterval=3
  24.       TimerTickCount=2
  25.    Means that every 3 ms send 2 ticks to trigger the CD-ROM.  If you
  26.    feel the bit-stream is too slow, lessen the TimerInterval and
  27.    enlarge TimerTickCount.

  29. 5. Connect your IDE CD-ROM to secondary IDE interface in Windows 95.
  30.    Otherwise it will slows down the bit-stream transfer and causes the 
  31.    playback unstable.
  32.  
  33. 6. You have to add /U switch after MSCDEX.EXE in "autoexec.bat" yourself
  34.    if you run the MPEG application in Windows 3.1, such as:
  35.       C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /U
  36.  
  37. 7. To run properly in Windows 95, you should follow the three steps below:
  38.    A. You need to load the CD-ROM driver yourselves.
  39.       The device driver in CONFIG.SYS (Suppose that the AT-bus CD-ROM
  40.       uses 340H as I/O port), for examples:

  87.    C. Disable all 32 bit protect-mode disk driver.(follow the steps bellow)

  89.           Enter 'Control Panel'
  90.        -> double click 'System'
  91.        -> select 'Performance'
  92.        -> Click 'File System'
  93.        -> Click 'Troubleshooting'
  94.        -> Check 'Disable all 32 bit protect-mode disk driver'

  96.        -> Close the 'System Properties' window

  100. [For MP011RMT with TV Output and Remote Control (optional)]
  101. 7. MP011RMT provides video output to TV.  Be sure to select NTSC or PAL
  102.    according to your TV system.  You can switch the video output to monitor 
  103.    or TV by pressing Space Bar.

  105. 8. MP011RMT can add an optional Remote Control Model to supports Remote
  106.    Control function and OSD (On Screen Display) function. You can control 
  107.    the MPEG card by the Remote Controller. More detail, please, see the 
  108.    manual.

  111. Trouble Shooting
  112. ----------------
  113. 1. Q: The Message shows "Can't Initialize System [90]" when the MPEG
  114.       program executes.
  115.    A: MP011RMT uses four common I/O addresses, 280-28F, 2A0-2AF, 300-30F 
  116.       and 320-32F.
  117.       If software and hardware settings does not match or the I/O port
  118.       conflicts with the other add-on cards, then the program will not
  119.       be able to the MPEG Card properly.
  120.       1. Please refer to MPEG manual to set the jumper on the MPEG card
  121.          setting and execute MP011RMT Setup to config the software again.  
  122.          Be sure that the jumper setting MUST be consistent with the 
  123.          config of MP011RMT.
  124.       2. Please let other add-on cards not to use the same I/O port
  125.          (default address is 280-28F) as MPEG default address.
  126.          However, if you want to change current I/O Port address, you
  127.          should change the jumper setting.
  128.  
  129. 2. Q: The Message shows "Can't Initialize System [100]"
  130.    A: The message indicates that the driver MP011RMT.386 does not load
  131.       while Windows starts or the available memory under 640K conventional
  132.       memory is not enough.
  133.       1. Please edit the system.ini file at Windows directory, search the
  134.          [386Enh] section, and add a line such as:
  135.               [386Enh]
  136.               device=c:\mp011rmt\MP011RMT.386
  137.       2. If you load too many TSR programs while PC starts, please quit
  138.          some TSR programs from memory and try again.
  139.  
  140. 3. Q: The message displays "CD-ROM Memory Allocation Error.[0]" error
  141.       Message when click the CD-I button.
  142.    A: This message indicates that there is not any CD-ROM available to
  143.       playback CD-I and Video CD.
  144.       Please check config.sys or autoexec.bat file and make sure your
  145.       CD-ROM hardware and driver installed properly.
  146.  
  147. 4. Q: The program cannot detect the CD format while the CD-ROM door close.
  148.    A: 1. First of all, make sure your CD-ROM drive program installed
  149.          properly(refer your CD-ROM drive manual)
  150.       2. Please check your autoexec.bat file.
  151.          Add /U switch after smartdrv.exe to remove the cache module of
  152.          CD-ROM.
  153.          Or you can put smartdrv.exe before MSCDEXE.EXE as follow:
  154.             C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE /U
  155.             .....
  156.             C:\DOS\MSCDEXE.EXE /D:MSCD001
  157.  
  158. 5. Q: The program cannot detect the CD-I format.
  159.    A: 1. If your CD-ROM can read Video CD and MPEG files (ISO 9660), make
  160.          sure that your CD-ROM supports CD-I.
  161.       2. Tty to open the CD-ROM door and let the program to read the CD-ROM
  162.          once, then, the system can recognize the CD-i again.
  163.  
  164. 6. Q: It shows blank video in the screen and the audio is not smooth while
  165.       the MPEG sequence is playing.
  166.    A: It should be that the IRQ of MPEG card conflicts to other interface
  167.       cards.
  168.       1. Please write down all add-on or interface cards in your PC system
  169.          and make sure all IRQ value not to conflict each other.
  170.       2. Please remove some interface cards that are not necessary, such
  171.          as sound card, network card... and try again.
  172.       3. Or you can change IRQ of the MPEG card to 5 or 7 avoid conflicting
  173.          to another peripheral devices.
  174.  
  175. 7. Q: It plays CD-I and Video CD or MPEG file OK, but no sound ?
  176.    A: MPEG Decoder card I/O port conflicts other interface cards.
  177.       1. Make sure that your speakers is On and properly connect to the
  178.          Audio Output of MPEG Card.
  179.       2. Please check the Mute function, Volume Adjust and Volume knob.
  180.       3. Please remove all probable problem cards except I/O and VGA
  181.          cards, then try again.
  182.       4. Please adjust MPEG Decoder jumper 1,2 open 3,4 close
  183.          (or 1,2 open; 3,4 open) and set your software config I/O port
  184.          to 2A0H/320H, then try again.
  185.  
  186.            NOTE: Always remember hardware jumper setting should match the
  187.            software configuration.
  188.  
  189. 8. Q: After installed the MPEG card, the sound card always produces last
  190.       sound and system hangs while exit Windows.
  191.    A: MPEG Decoder card conflicts a sound card. Normally, a sound card uses
  192.       IRQ 5 with Sound Blaster mode and IRQ 11 with Windows Sound System
  193.       Mode. Please change IRQ setting to avoid to conflict each other.
  194.  
  195. 9. Q: It can not find the device using the Media Player after completed
  196.       installed.
  197.    A: The MPEG Decoder card supports the MCI driver to execute some
  198.       application programs, such as Media Player.
  199.       When you run the Media Player the first time, it will checks
  200.       system.ini with device automatically and produces the mplayer.ini
  201.       file.
  202.       Please select correct device drivers when uses Media Player, such
  203.       as CD-I or Video CD or MPEG file.
  204.  
  205. 11. Q: How to use MPEG decoder or player with sound card?  Should I connect
  206.        the speakers to MPEG card or sound card?
  207.     A: Please find a mini stereo head-phone line. Connect MPEG Audio output
  208.        to sound card line-in.
  209.        The speakers should connect to the spk/output of the sound card.
  210.        Be sure to enable the sound card under the Windows environment,
  211.        especially mixer function.

  213. 12. Q: The playback is not smooth.  The MPEG sequence is not stable in
  214.           Windows 95.
  215.     A: 1. Check the "config.sys" and "autoexec.bat" in Windows 95 environment.
  216.           Make sure that the CD-ROM driver is well load in "config.sys".
  217.        2. Verify the "autoexec.bat" of Windows 95 contains
  218.           c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe /D:[drivername]
  219.        3. If you use IDE CD-ROM, connect the CD-ROM to secondary interface.
  220.           Be sure that the I/O port and IRQ of secondary IDE are 170H and 15
  221.           respectively.

  242. Problems to be improved
  243. -----------------------

  245. 1. Once you have put the data CD ISO-9660 into CD-ROM, system will keep
  246.    the current file structure and can not recognize CD-i because DOS
  247.    cannot refresh the directory information of the disc.
  248.    Try to open the CD-ROM door and let the program read the CD-ROM data.
  249.    Consequently, the system can detect the CD-i title again.

  251. 2. In Windows 95, the IDE CD-ROM which uses primary IDE interface will cause
  252.    the playback not smooth.  Please connect your IDE CD-ROM to secondary
  253.    IDE interface.
  254.    Some of the CD-ROM driver cannot detect where the CD-ROM connects.
  255.    The default I/O port and IRQ are 170F and 15 respectively.  Remember to 
  256.    refer to your CD-ROM manual to add appropriate parameter after the CD-ROM 
  257.    device line in "config.sys".
