- WELCOME!
- Thank you for purchasing Fractal Design Poser 2. We've worked
- hard to create this great new version and are confident that
- you will enjoy it! This READ ME file contains important information
- that is not included in the printed Poser 2 documentation.
- Please refer to the Poser 2 QuickStart Guide for installation
- instructions.
-
- REGISTRATION
- Be sure to register your product by filling out and mailing your
- Poser 2 registration card. Fractal Design wants to keep you
- informed about the latest changes and improvements to the program.
- Registering entitles you to free technical support, Galleria--our
- product catalog and newsletter, product updates and special offers.
-
- Installation:
- To install Poser 2, simply double click on the Setup.EXE in the
- INSTALL directory on the Poser CD and follow the instructions.
- Once it is completely installed, invoke the Poser 2 command from
- the Start menu. The first time you launch Poser 2, you will need
- to enter your serial number. That's it!
-
- System Requirements:
- Poser 2 requires an 486 CPU or better with Math CoProcesor
- (FPU), 20 MB of ram, and 65 mb of hard drive space for the
- full install.
-
- IMPORTANT NOTES:
-
- *It is possible to force the figure into certain extreme poses
- where the shape of the form is distorted. This is usually only
- possible when rotating or moving a body element in an extreme
- manner and is most likely to happen to an element in an IK chain.
- If you come across this, there are two easy ways to resolve
- this. One, simply Undo and the figure will move back to it's
- previous state. Or two, select the offending body part and under
- the Edit menu select Restore and then Element (or Ctrl-E).
- This will restore the element to it's default state. This can be
- very apparent when rotating the hands. To turn the hand don't
- rotate the hand itself. Instead, rotate the forearm. The hand
- behavior is very similar to the way a hand behaves in the real
- world. To turn your palm face up or face down, you don't rotate
- at the wrist. When Inverse Kinematics is used on the hand, you
- will often need to rotate the forearm after you position
- the hand.
-
- *Poser 2 Windows files cannot be opened by the Macintosh version
- (the converse is not true). We have posted a utility to our Web
- page (www.fractal.com) that will allow you to translate the Windows
- files into a format that the Macintosh version of Poser 2 can read.
-
- Tutorial Files: The Tutorial folder installed by the Poser 2
- installer contains the source files needed to complete the Tutorial
- exercises.
-
- *Poser 2 offers implicit mapping. When using in conjunction with
- Fractal Design Detailer-the 3D Paint application, always choose the
- implicit mapping option.
-
- *DXF Files: Models in DXF format do not include UV data, so implicit
- mapping cannot be used on them and therefore cannot be textured in
- Poser 2.
-
- *Export Dialog Option: When you export a figure, you will see a
- dialog box with the following in it:
- "Export object groups for each body part" and along side it a check
- box. If it is not checked (default), this means that each Poser
- Figure and prop will be in it's own object group. If it is checked,
- each prop will be in its own object group as before, but each body
- part will be in its own object group. This means for a typical
- figure you will have 19 object groups instead of just one. The
- results of this for Detailer are that if you check the box, you
- will have to specify a map for each body part. If you don't check
- the box, you will have one set of maps per figure and one set of
- maps per prop. This is usually the preferred (and default) method
- for interacting with Detailer.
-
- INCLUDED CONTENT:
- Be sure to try out all the additional content provided on the Poser 2
- CD-ROM. We've included numerous images and animation's that will give
- you an idea of what can be done with Poser 2. In the animation's
- folder on the Poser 2 CD are several sample projects that can help
- you learn how do achieve certain movements that you might find
- difficult to emulate.
-
