The directory you choose to install the NewsBank Search software must be:
1. a completely new directory, i.e., one that does not already exist;
2. an existing directory that is empty, i.e., containing no files; OR
3. a directory where a version of NewsBank Search higher than 2.20 is installed.
If you are installing the software to a network drive, you must also have sufficient access rights to create new directories on that drive.
If you select an existing directory containing only NewsBank Search files, your existing configuration will be preserved as much as possible.
If the directory you choose does not meet these conditions, an error message will appear and you will be given the chance to select another directory.

TEMPORARY FILES DIRECTORY \
Temporary files are written during searches and deleted when you exit the search software.
If you select a network directory for temporary files, you must have sufficient access rights to create and delete files in that directory. Z
Temporary files must be written to a hard disk; they cannot be written to a floppy disk. z
A temporary file directory must be entered during Install, but can be changed at any time from within the Setup utility.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FILE (CONFIG.SYS)
The NewsBank Search software requires the following two lines in the CONFIG.SYS file of the computer where the software will be run:
FILES=40
STACKS=9,256
If your current CONFIG.SYS file does not meet these requirements, you will be given the option to have it automatically updated by the install program, or you can make the changes yourself with a text editor. If you choose to have the changes made automatically, you will be given the additional option of previewing the changes before they are made. f
Adding these lines to your CONFIG.SYS file should have no detrimental effect on your other software.
