- "I would rather chew on tin foil while shaving my head with a cheese grater
- than go back to the AMI BIOS that shipped with this board". -- Joseph

-
- Yow! That certainly explains the view on Bowers Avenue! -- MR BIOS

- Triton ShareWare
-
- If you've already browsed the MR BIOS Upgrades page, you might have noticed
- that only a single one of the 50-100 chipsets listed there is made by
- Intel. It's their most recent, Triton chipset.
-
- Several years ago when Intel was just entering chipset industry, they
- established a preferred relationship with another BIOS vendor. Tsk, Tsk.
- You couldn't get MR BIOS quality for your Intel motherboard back then, and
- you still can't upgrade it to MR BIOS today.
-
- Over time, Intel's technology matured into today's very impressive Triton
- chipset. They have apparently gone into large scale production of
- motherboards based on it. They must have, because we've been flooded with
- requests from discriminating end users like yourself who want MR BIOS
- upgrades for them.
-
- So now, for the first time, Microid is proud to announce BIOS support for
- an Intel chipset!
-
- Historically, MR BIOS came only in EPROMs from the motherboard vendor or
- BIOS upgrade distributor. But thanks to Flash-ROMs and the WWW, you can
- obtain your MR BIOS right here, right now, in inexpensive ShareWare form!
- Try it, be impressed by it, and then, please pay for it. Microid is not a
- public service support agency for Intel!
-
- License Fee: USD $15 per copy, payable to:

- Thank you for your support!

-
- Are you absolutely blown away by the improvement MR BIOS instilled in your
- Intel motherboard? Shouldn't it have been shipped with MR BIOS in the first
- place?
-
- Yes! (support@cs.intel.com) Then tell them so! They'd love to hear from
- you!
-
- No! (mrbios@mrbios.com) (Egads!) How can we better service you?

-
- Each of the Triton BIOS files available here contain: i) a MR BIOS image,
- ii) a Flash Loader utility, and iii) Instructions. The instructions are
- provided in a plain ascii .TXT format, so you can view them with
- practically anything (including the TYPE command at the DOS prompt). The
- essence of the instructions is as follows:
-
- 1. Run the Flash-Loader in a non protected-mode environment. An easy way
- to get there is to boot a DOS diskette that contains neither
- CONFIG.SYS nor AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- 2. Invoke the MR BIOS Flash Loader.
- 3. Use the Backup option to copy the original BIOS image out from the
- Flash-ROM and into a file.
- 4. Use the Verify option to confirm the backup file was correctly
- generated.
- 5. Use the Install option to upload MR BIOS into the Flash-ROM. This can
- take up to 15 seconds or so. Do NOT disturb the computer during
- upload!
- 6. Win95 Users: Run the H/W Wizard with the newly installed MR BIOS. If
- phantom device-nodes from the previous BIOS persist, rerun Win95
- Install.
-
- In the case of motherboards with "boot-block" type Flash-ROM, the .TXT file
- also contains a description of an associated "flash-recovery" mode, and
- instructions for preparing a "failsafe-recovery-diskette".
-
- You'll find the installation procedure is really quite simple and proceeds
- very smoothly.
-
- Before uploading MR BIOS into your computer's Flash-ROM, be sure to read
- and follow the instructions that are provided.
-
- All of the files available here are ZIP'd. You'll need to decompress them
- with your favorite utility. Here are a couple of Web Sites where you can
- obtain such utilities. (ShareWare).
