  4.         One day  two cops go into a little coffee shop for a meal. It ends
  5.  
  6. abruptly when they are called away. An honest decent cop named Charlie
  7.  
  8. Lang (Nicholas Cage) has to pay the bill. He pays the adorable young
  9.  
  10. waitress Yvonne (Bridget Fonda), but doesn't have enough money for a tip.
  11.  
  12. So, he looks at the lottery ticket he bought earlier in the morning, and
  13.  
  14. says if he wins they will split the money, and if not he will bring the
  15.  
  16. tip back tomorrow. She thinks he is crazy, and also thinks she will never
  17.  
  18. see him again. Well, Charlie and his high-strung wife Muriel (Rosie Perez)
  19.  
  20. do win, and Muriel is ecstatic. She always wanted to be rich, and was angry
  21.  
  22. that she had to live in a little one room apartment in Queens. They end up 
  23.  
  24. with 2 million dollars (after spliting it), since many other people won as 
  25.  
  26. well. She gets so angry, when he tells her about the little agreement with 
  27.  
  28. the waitress. Charlie knows it is the honest thing to do, so he gives the 
  29.  
  30. waitress the money. She doesn't believe him at first, and then she gets so 
  31.  
  32. happy. Her husband (who charged 12,000 on her MasterCard causing her to go 
  33.  
  34. bankrupt) comes back and wants a piece of the action. Muriel goes and buys 
  35.  
  36. herself all of these things, and could care less about helping the needy. 
  37.  
  38. Charlie & Yvonne get together and donate money to charity, and give money to 
  39.  
  40. the homeless, much to the dismay of Muriel. These two do-gooders are drawn 
  41.  
  42. together, because of the money, and become good friends. Cage is excellent as 
  43.  
  44. the very nice, and giving Charlie who cares more about others than he does 
  45.  
  46. himself. Rosie Perez is hilarious as she shreaks her lines, and is perfect for 
  47.  
  48. the role of the greedy, selfish Muriel. Fonda is adorable in the role of 
  49.  
  50. Yvonne, who wants to help others, and in that way turns her disasterous life 
  51.  
  52. around. The movie is fantastic, and the characters are developed extremely 
  53.  
  54. well. Everything in this movie falls right into place. It kind of reminds of 
  55.  
  56. Sleepless in Seattle, the way two people are drawn together. See this movie!
