  4.      Welcome to your Elvira help file!  There are several sets of
  5.      
  6.      instructions in the following screens.  Please scroll through all  
  7.      
  8.      these screens and find appropriate instructions.

  12.      You may be having trouble installing Elvira.  Here's how you do it:
  13.  
  14.      1.) Type C: and then <Enter>.
  15.  
  16.      2.) Then type CD\ followed by <Enter>.
  17.  
  18.      3.) Now type MD\ELVIRA and <Enter>.
  19.  
  20.      4.) Next type CD\ELVIRA and press <Enter>.
  21.  
  22.      5.) Place the first game disk in either drive A: or drive B:. 
  23.          
  24.      6.) You will be at your C:\ELVIRA> prompt.  Type COPY A:\*.* and
  25.          then <Enter>.  If your disks are in the B: drive you will type
  26.          COPY B:\*.* <Enter>.  
  27.          
  28.      7.) Now follow step six for the other three diskettes.
  29.  
  30.      8.) At your C:\Elvira> type INSTALL and follow the on-screen prompts. 
  31.          Then play Elvira... if you dare!
  32.  
  33.     Please Note: If you typed INSTALL at the A:> prompt the diskette is
  34.     no longer useable.  You will need to replace the software.

  38.      Elvira came out in 1990.  Because new technology has been developed 
  39.      
  40.      you may experience problems with this game on a 386 or 486.  We have
  41.      
  42.      tested this game on both these platforms and found that it worked fine 
  43.      
  44.      with our configurations.  However, you may experience lock-ups or 
  45.      
  46.      garbled graphics.  Please read the following instructions, they may 
  47.      
  48.      solve these problems.

  52.    DOS 5.0 USERS
  53.  
  54.      If you are having problems with ELVIRA and are using DOS 5 use 
  55.      
  56.      these steps.  You will make a clean boot diskette.  Please note 
  57.  
  58.      you must create this diskette in drive A: only.
  59.  
  60.  
  61.      1.)  Get to your C:> prompt.
  62.  
  63.      2.)  Type CD\DOS <Enter>.
  64.  
  65.      3.)  Now at your C:DOS> prompt type FORMAT A:/S and then <Enter>.
  66.  
  67.      4.)  Insert a blank diskette in drive A: and format the diskette.
  68.  
  69.      5.)  Next change to your A:> prompt.
  70.  
  71.      6.)  At the A:> prompt type COPY CON AUTOEXEC.BAT and then <Enter>.

  73.      7.)  The cursor will move down a line.  When this happens 
  74.           type PROMPT $P$G and then <Enter>.
  75.  
  76.      8.)  Now press <Ctrl> Z and then press <Enter>.

  78.      9.)  Keep this diskette in drive A: and reboot your computer.

  80.      10.) When the A:> prompt appears change to drive C:>.

  82.      11.) If you are using a mouse you will need to load the mouse 
  83.           driver.

  85.      12.) Next change directories to ELVIRA.  Darkness and mayhem await!

  88.      Please note if you are using DOUBLESPACE or STACKER you will not 
  89.      
  90.      have access to your hard drive.

  94.    DOS 6.0 AND 6.2 USERS
  95.  
  96.         If you are having problems with Hardball II and use DOS 6.0 or 6.2                     
  97.         
  98.         follow these steps.

  101.         1.) Reboot your computer.  When you see the "Starting M-S DOS"
  102.             message press your F5 key.
  103.  
  104.         2.) M-S DOS will now bypass your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.  
  105.             You will get to a C:> prompt.
  106.  
  107.         3.) If you are using a mouse you now must load your mouse driver.
  108.         
  109.         4.) Next change directories to Elvira!  Darkness and mayhem await!

  113.         Please note if you are using DOUBLESPACE or STACKER you will not

  115.         have access to your hard drive.
