  3.         For lack of a better title.  Here you get to be bored by me
  4. rambling for several pages about distribution, the history of this
  5. silly little game, etc.
  6.         First the history.  In the beginning, there were Proving Grounds
  7. chain files, and it was good.  But these writers decided that they were
  8. going to give out the game to select BBS's and not others, and this was
  9. not good.
  10.         I'm still not sure why I found myself writing Caveman almost a
  11. eight months ago; I never much liked Turbo Pascal and had never written
  12. anything substantial in it.  In three weeks time, and with a lot of
  13. luck, it was beta-tested on Brainstorm BBS (213) 640-1643.  Jak, the
  14. sysop, was very patient with my WWIV-illiteracy, and helped me over some
  15. rough spots.  After a while, people kept playing it, and the chains that
  16. had motivated me to write Caveman faded from the scene.
  17.         I guess that's why this has all taken so long (version 2.0, that
  18. is).  I just didn't feel any great urge to work on the game.  Somehow I
  19. managed to finish it, though, and even put in a few of the more fun (and
  20. easy to code) mods that some users wanted.
  21.         A few users have also approached me asking for copies of the
  22. game, and I don't see why they shouldn't get them, as I can't stop
  23. sysops from distributing to them anyway.  So long as they have a copy of
  24. WWIV 3.21d, they can play the game.
  25.         If you want a copy of the game (here's the plug!), want to play
  26. it somewhere else, or if you just want to call, the Food Fight! BBS at
  27. (714) 856-2769 and read the g-file there entitled "Food Fight!
  28. Distribution".
  29.         I still refuse to give out source to anyone, for several
  30. reasons which are elaborated in another g-file on my board (one of them is
  31. that I can't write structured code to save my life, and I don't want you
  32. all to laugh at me).
  33.
